George O. McClure, 79, of Spiro, passed away Wednesday, Sept.
15, 2004, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born March 22, 1925, at
Sequoyah County, Okla. to Oscar Otto McClure and Lillie Vesti
Miller McClure. He was a licensed nursing home administrator for
20 years and founder owner and operator of the Spiro Nursing
Home. He was a former ambulance driver at Agent Funeral Home, an
Army Veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion
Post 0222 for the past 12 years and a member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post No. 4884. He was of the Protestant faith. He
married Carmon Ruth Remy McClure on Oct. 19, 1946, in Fort
Smith, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 9, 1977; and one
son, Billy George McClure.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Ruth Odom of Spiro and
Linda Sue Ghobrial of Fort Smith, Ark.; two sons, Gary Lee
McClure and Johnny McClure, both of Spiro; nine grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Syble Remy of Sallisaw;
and his caretaker of Sylvia Gentry.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 in the Agent
Chapel at Sallisaw with the Rev. Herbert Lee officiating. Burial
will follow in New Hope
Cemetery at Spiro under the direction of Agent Funeral Home
of Sallisaw.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Krebbs, Monte Goldsborough, Garon
McClure, Ed Pendergrass, Paul Croft and Jeff Odom.
