| John Alexander Taylor was born at La Cross, Wis., November 23, 1856 and died at his home in Mulhall, June 17, 1930. Mr. Taylor was married to Miss Eva Dunlap at Valley Center, Sedgwick County, Kansas, September 23, 1882. To this union were born four sons, Vernon, who died at the age of 7, G. A. Taylor, Houston, Texas, Sherman Taylor, Tulsa, Okla., Blaine Taylor, of Altoona, Pa.: and two daughters, Mrs Bertha Stanley, Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Hazel Denison, of Oklahoma City. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor came to Oklahoma in 1889 and settled on a homestead five miles east of Mulhall. After a few years they move to Mulhall, which has continued to be their home. Besides the immediate family, Mr. Taylor is survived by 18 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, two half-brothers, A. P. Van Valkenburg and Ora Van Valkenburg, Los Angeles, Cal., two step-sisters, Mrs. Sadie Britt, Reeding, Okla., Mrs. Ida Potts, Torin, Iowa. There is one sister, Mrs. Id Belle Jester and one brother, George Taylor, who preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. J. E. Burt. Buried in Rose Lawn cemetery. All the children were present at the funeral, who are Arthur Taylor and son, John Sherman Taylor and family, Blaine Taylor, Mrs. Bertha Stanley, Mrs. Hazel Dennison and Mr. Dennison. Mr. Taylor's father, Theodore Taylor was a Civil War veteran, a member of an Illinois regiment. He died at Chandler, Oklahoma, several years ago. Blaine Tayor, is making the trip from Altoona, Pa., to Mulhall, traveled by rail to Port Columbus, Ohio, then by air plane to Wichita, Kansas, and from the latter place by automobile. Among those from a distance not already mentioned who attended the J. A. Taylor funeral here Friday were two half-brothers, A. P. Van Valkenburg and family and Ora Van Valkenburg of Hinton, Okla., a niece, Mrs. Golda Winn and Mr. Winn of Oklahoma City, a nephew, George Taylor and family of Kildare, Okla.; two brothers-in-law F. M. Dunlap, and Lincoln Dunlap and the latter's daughter, Mrs. Sybil Jason and children, Wichita, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Allen, Enid; A. B. Jester, Augusta, Kansas, Mrs. Virgil Steele, Mrs. Sherrell Buchanan and Mrs. Roy Merritt, Oklahoma, City; J. Claunch, Mrs. Ada Dean and Mrs. Grace Herron, Covington, J. J. Estus, R. A. Estus and William Buckle, Guthrie. J. A. Taylor, whose recent death, here is noted , worked at the carpenter trade during the early days while his family lived on the claim. He was in Guthrie much of the time. Among the Guthrie carpenter of those days was a Mr. Stratton who afterwards went to Colorado and got to be worth a millions through mining operations.
