| John S. Blakesley was born in Canada January 23, 1840, moved with his parents at the age of 4 to Illinois where he was married to Mary E. Kirkpatrick, March 27, 1864. To this union were born 10 children, all present except boy who died in infancy and Mrs. Ada B. Scott, who departed this life in 1911. He moved with family to Oklahoma at the opening in 1889 and obtained a homestead near Mulhall on which he resided until his death. His wife departed this life in 1910. In 1912 he was married to Julia Russell, who with two brothers, a sister, 6 sons, two daughters, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grand children remain to mourn his loss. He was a charter member of St. Johns Lodge, A.F. & M. No. 12 of Mulhall. Died at his home near Mulhall Sept. 30, 1915, aged 75 years, 8 months and 7 days. The funeral services were held at the family residence. Elders Chamberlain of the Methodist Church and E.A. Jewette of the Christian Church in charge. Mulhall State Journal |
