Malena E. McClure Phillips, 95, of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away March 8, 2011, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was born on April 18, 1915, in Crescent, Oklahoma to James Lawson and Mary Ann (Cook) Kelly.
She lived in Oklahoma and Logan Counties most of her life. She was a member of the Full Gospel Fellowship Church. Malena loved to sew, crochet, cook and music. She also loved to give away the things that she had made.
Malena was married to Carl Smith who preceded her in death, she married Paul Nelson and they later divorced, she was married to Wendell McClure who also preceded her in death. On April 17, 2011 she married John D. Phillips.
She is survived by her husband John D. Phillips of the home, one son Ronald (Diane) Nelson of Binger, OK, two daughters Dolores (Charles) Crist of Guthrie, OK and Irene (Arnold) Jones of Guthrie, OK and one brother Stacy (Ruby) Kelly of Nicoma Park, OK. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Angie, Steve, Christy, Carl, David, Darla, Patrick, Jeff, Curtis and Gaylee, a host of great Grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Malena was preceded in death by two daughters, Elba Lee Nelson and Darlene Hildabrand, two sisters, Erma Neirman and Lorene Horton, one brother, Burl Kelly and one grandchild, Monty Williams.
Services will be held at 1:30 pm, on Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Arnold Jones and Rev. Ronald Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm and on Friday 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. |
