William R. Cross, who died at his home here July 21, after a lingering illness, was born March 5, 1859 at Rock Island, Illinois. He was married to Amanda Jane Fowler February 14, 1888, in Jefferson County, Kansas. They settled in Oklahoma in an early day. To this union were born 10 children, one of whom a daughter, Mrs. Della Ellison, died October 29, 1918. The wife and the following children were present during his last illness: Charles Cross, of Coyle; Mrs. Mabel Sanderson of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Gladys King, of Crescent, Oklahoma; Mrs. Edna Shultz, of Winfield, Kansas; Mrs. Audrey Bentl ey, Perry, Okla.; Mrs. Lottie Hastie; Raymond, Dorothy and Doris Cross of Mulhall. Mr. Cross is also survived by 11 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Eva Westfall, Kansas City; and one brother, J. C. Cross, of Leavenworth, Kansas. Mr. Cross became a member of the church in his early life and died in the faith. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church here Monday afternoon, the paster, Rev. W. H. Proffitt, in charge. Burial in Rose Lawn cemetery.

P. Sanderson, and family, of Wichita; Mrs. and Mrs. James Shultz, of Winfield, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Carl King, of Crescent, Oklahoma; Mrs. Audrey Bentley, Perry, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cross and family, of Coyle, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson and daughter; Mrs. Mollie Phillips, and Rev. and Mrs. D. B. Horton of Coyle. |
