James David Chandler

David and Eliza stayed in Howard County, Arkansas until the end of 1895, then loaded up the wagons and the kids and headed for Oklahoma Territory (later Egypt, Oklahoma). They arrived in January of 1896, nineteen days before the birth of their 7th child, Barbara Lee. Their first winter was spent in a half-dug out home, but come Spring a log cabin was built. Eventually they settled in an area just north of Ada, known as New Bethel, where the children attended school.

It was reported in one of the early newspapers of the area, that this family saw an Unidentified Flying Object. They weren't crazy or kooky! Airplanes were just beginning to make their debut in the sky overhead and thats probably what they saw. The old homestead now belongs to the Daniel's family.
