MINUTES OF THE MOUNT PLEASANT CHURCH

The session met and was opened with prayer.

Elders:

James Tobbi
Milton Brown a backslidding member and George
Hall, who was excommunicated by the Church Session held Aug 7th 1860, but authorized
by the Indian Presbytery held at Lenox Sept. 1870 to be restored, appeared
before the Session and requested to be restored to the privileges of the Church.
They each expressed deep sorrow for offending the Savior for neglecting their
duties of love and obedience to Him. After a full and careful examination,
Resolved, that they be restored.
Jackson Blackbird a member of this Church
appeared and confessed that he had sinned against God by violating the 7th
commandment for which he was reproved. Hoping his penitence was sincere and he
expressed a hope that his sins are pardoned through the atoning blood of Christ,
and inasmuch as since he committed a sinful act he abstained himself from
communion, but never omitted his religious duties except for a short time
immediately after the criminal act. Though censuring his wick act, yet since he
expressed a deep penitence, Resolved, that he be allowed to continue in
membership with the Church.
Susan Couch who has been long backslidding
member of the Church (Methodist) appeared and requested to be received into the
Church. After a full examination to her experimental religion and faith,
Resolved that she be received on profession of her faith.
Milton Brown of his own request was dismissed
to Chick. Ch.

Wilson Culberson, at his own request, was
dismissed to unite with Wapanucka Church.
Resolved, that David Perkins be and is hereby
appointed to attend the next meeting of the Presbytery to be held at Boggy Depot
on the 14th of September 1871.
Anolihoma (wid. Hoktitobbu) appeared as
candidate for admission into the Church. After examination Resolved, that she be
received.

Amos Williams was invited to sit as
corresponding member.
Mrs. Elizabeth Hall a backslidding member in
Goodland Church, had become cold and unworthy to be called a Christian,
requested yet not wishing to quit her duties of the religion and continually
trying to live as a Christian, to be permitted to continue to enjoy the Church
privileges. After a word of exortation, Resolved, that her request be granted.
