MINUTES OF THE MOUNT PLEASANT CHURCH

Feb. 4, 1872
The session opened with prayer.

Emily Holmes appeared as a candidate for
admission into the Church. After examining as to her experience and faith in the
Lord Jesus Christ, resolved that she be received.
Nancy Humma a backslidding member of this
Church, appeared and stated that she had come to determination to take up the
cross and follow Christ. She further stated that by moving to a neighhood where
there is no preaching, gradually neglecting to attend to the religious duties,
finally ceased praying; but had never entirely forgotten her obligation to the Savior.
Her reasons for appearing was to notify the Session what she had concluded to
do. She was advised to appear again to be restored to the Church privileges at
the next meeting.
Samuel Daily, Thomas Bacon and Isbella Perkins,
backsliding members of this Church, appeared before the Session and confessed
the sin of the breach of the 7th commandment for which they excluded themselves
from the Church privileges. They each expressed themselves with deep penitence
and grief that they had sinned against God, but hoping that they have been
forgiven, requested to be restored to full privileges of the Church. After a
word of counsel and admonition to walk near Christ by prayer, resolved that they
be restored.
Resolved that T. B. Turnbull be a delegate to
represent this Church to attend the next meeting of the Presbytery to be held at
Mt. Fork on Thursday before the 3rd Sabbath in April next at 7 o'clock p.m.

Sally (Hokey), member of this church appeared
and confessed of getting angry with another woman, and felt that she had
committed a great sin, but having repented and hoped that her sins are pardoned,
requested to be restored to all church privileges. After examination and a word
of exhortation to more watchfulness and prayer, resolved that her request be
granted.
Rowena Perkins, baptized member of this church
appeared and confessed of getting angry with another woman and felt that she had

enjoy all its privileges. After a full examination as to her qualifications of
faith and hope in Christ Jesus. Resolved that she be received.

By invitation Sam McGee sat as a corresponding
member.
Mrs. Susan F. Turnbull appeared and requested
to be received. She stated that she once had been a member in the Baptist
Church, but hoping that her sins were pardoned through the blood of Jesus by not
living up to her profession. After a full examination, resolved that she be
received.
