TEHACHAPI, June 28. (Exclusive) A destitute but nervy Oklahoma City woman who was “beating her way" to Shatter with her sister on a Southern Pacific freight train, was crushed to death in Tehachapi Pass today by a shifting load of pipe on the flat car in which she was riding.

The tragedy victim is Mrs. Mable Pigman, 40 years of age, of 809 West California street, Oklahoma City Accompanying her on the journey was Mrs. Robert Holder of Shafter They were en route to the latter’s home, according to information obtained at the office of Coroner Norman C. Houze, who is investigating the accident.

Transients and train crew members extricated Mrs. Pigman's body and she was rushed to a doctor's office in Tehachapi, but she was lifeless.

According to authorities, Mrs. Pigman and Mrs. Holder were members of a large group of transients who had boarded tile freight train in Los Angeles to journey northward. All went well until the train reached the summit and was being switched to release the helper locomotives before starting the downgrade trip to Bakersfield.

The two women were sitting on the load of heavy steel pipe when a sudden jerk of the switch engine caused the entire load to shift. Mrs. Holder was thrown clear of the moving pipe, but her sister was trapped and the weight of several sections of steel casing crushed her.
