Perched on the north side of the road, is a prim redbrick school house - Sunnyside, district 36. It's a one-teacher district, but inspectors for the state board of education have classified it as one of the best-equipped in the state.

Sunnyside, built in 1928 and modernized this year, boasts a classroom which may be converted into an auditorium, a well stocked library, girls and boys rest rooms with city style porcelain attachments and a combination cafeteria-recreation room.

Eighty people from the Jones, Choctaw and surrounding communities ate turkey, corn meal dressing with nuts, brown gray and three kinds of pie Saturday night so the 23 pupils of Sunnyside school can eat hot lunches for the rest of the year.

The turkey dinner sponsored by the Sunnyside Parent Teachers association was a success in every way...

... Mrs. G. E. Cox, teaching her third year at Sunnyside...

Members of the PTA with Mrs. Frances Schroeder, serving her third term as president, and Mrs. W. S. VanOstrand, retiring vice-president, presided at the turkey pan, filled plates to overflowing, kept coffee cups running over and saw to it that all the guests felt stuffed...Sunnyside is more than $20 richer when the last gravy drop had dripped.

That won't finance the hot lunch program for the entire ear, but five gallons of milk a week, dozens of eggs, tomatoes, potatoes, other vegetables and fruit in season are donated by parents.

Sunnyside school has one room and the basement, but it's a new building, brick and modern. It's one a a half miles east of Guthrie shortcut on Northeast Sixty-third street.

..two year old contest for ownership of Sunnyside school building ended this week when movers appeared to transport the structure to a new location. There has been  no school in Sunnyside district for a number of years and on May 2, 1946, the building was sold at public auction.

A group of patrons of the district protested the sale and have tried to keep the building in the district for use as a community center. This week as the mover had the school house loaded on trucks to move to Alva, a group of the contest men gathered and formed a road block. They were unable to make their road block stick, and the movers drove off with old Sunnyside aboar, presumably to become a dwelling in Alva.
