Hanks Family Burial Ground
This old family burial ground is situated on the old home place of Robert T.
Hanks, which was a claim that was bought by Mr. Hanks from one of the VANN
brothers who were among the first settlers of this part of the country. Mr.
Hanks acquired this property about 1865, or the close of the Civil War, and his
heirs have retained possession of the property to the present time.
It was the custom with the early settlers to
have the family burial ground on their premises, hence, the location of this
burial ground plot on the old claim near the original home of Robert T. Hanks,
one mile west of Webbers Falls.
