MILLER APPLICATION # 643 Henry Julian Ward Muskogee Co., Muskogee, Oklahoma Admitted. Nephew of MA # 253, Lucy L. Keys nee Hoyt, and claims through the same source. Applicant's mother, Ester Hoyt, was enrolled in Disputed # 39. Commissioner of Indian Affairs Washington, D. C. Sir: I hereby make application for such share as me be due me of the fund appropriated by the Act of Congress approved June 30, 1906, in accordance with the decrees of the Court of Claims of May 18, 1905, and May 28, 1906, in favor of the Eastern Cherokees. Uncle George Lowery died in Kansas, without children, hence I claim 1/5 of 1/7 of his share. There may be portions of Nancy's, Lucy Benges, as my ancestors coming to me also. Great grandfather, George Lowery (Jr.) was second Chief and represented the Cherokees before the Departments at Washington before the war, and erected a monument to his memory at Tahlequah, Indian Territory. Note: Answers should be brief but explicit: the words 'yes' , 'no', and 'unknown' may be used in cases where applicable. Read the questions carefully. Personally appeared before me William P. Drew and Bassom P. Pasmus, who being duly sworn, on oath depose and say that they are well acquainted with Henry J. Ward, who makes the foregoing application and statements, and have known him for 7 years and 20 years, respectively, and know him to be the identical person he represents himself to be, and that the statements made by him are true, to the best of their knowledge and belief, and they have no interest whatever in his claim. Ward, who is also an applicant, and who may report her in his family- she has been in our family since she was 3 weeks old. 10. Where they ever enrolled for money, annuities, land, or other benefits? I enclose a copy of the genealogy of the Lowery family where 'Lidia married Milo Hoyt', my grandmother and grandfathers name appear. Esther Hoyt, my grandmother, married James Ward, an Old Settler Cherokee. I solemnly swear that the foregoing statements made by me are true to the best of my knowledge and belief. Signed: Henry J. with Henry J. Ward, who makes the foregoing application and statement,
and have known him for 3 years and 3 years, respectively, and know him
to be the identical person he represents himself to be and that on May
28, 1906, he had the children living as above set forth, and that the
statements made by him are true, and they have no interest whatever in
claim.
