Old Enterprise Cemetery

Haskell Co., OK

Canvassed and submitted to OKGenWeb by Nita Ferguson of Wilburton and Lahoma Shannon of McAlester, February 1999

Lahoma and Louis Shannon of McAlester, Charlie Shelton of Stigler, and Nita Ferguson of Wilburton met with the new Commissioner of the Kinta area which includes Enterprise, at the Old Enterprise Cemetery. As Carrie Rodell reported earlier, the trees and brush have been cut (thanks to Lahoma) but they are still piled up on the cemetery, covering many of the graves. Commissioner Few has ordered a new shredder which is due to arrive tomorrow (I just checked by phone) and he indicated that the brush will be cleaned off of the cemetery.. They do not plan to burn the brush for fear that it might further damage the gravestones. Mr. Few told me that it will be okay for us to check with him from time to time by telephone at their work barn. The telephone number there is 918-768-3349.
