GEORGIA LOU ADAIR CHILDRESS
Funeral services for Georgia Lou Childress, 79, Caney were conducted
Sunday, April 5th, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Chaney with
Rev. Bob Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the Caney Cemetery under the direction of Atoka
Funeral Home.
A housewife, she was dead on arrival at Atoka Memorial Hospital on
April 2, 1992. Born in Caney on January 15, 1913, she was the daughter
of George Mattison Adair and Erma Catherine Gilbert Adair. She was a
member of the First Baptist Church in Caney.
She was married to Lawrence Millard Childress at Durant on
September 19, 1932. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Bob Childress, Hurst, Texas; a
daughter, Iris Roland of Francis, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, nine
great-grandchildren, four sisters, Bernice Hoffhines, Dallas, Texas;
Ruby Emert of Durant; Ruthylene Hall, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and
Myrtle Byrum of Atoka, two brothers, Joe Adair of Atoka, and Royal
Adair, Midlothian, Texas; several nieces and nephews and a host of
friends.
Honary pallbearer was Warren Hopkins.
Active pallbearers were Gary Green, Robert Childress, Darrell
Roland, Richard Roland, T. A. McBride and Kent Soward.
