MERRIL ALLEN DEAN
By: Rev. Wilson, Merril Allen Dean Obit, From the Atoka, OK. News
October 7, 1929.
Merril Allen Dean was born to the home of J. B. and Mrs. Dean,
April 21, 1905, in Atoka, Oklahoma. Remaining in this locality, Merril
grew to manhood attending the Grace school and the high school. Upon
graduation from Atoka High School, Mr. Dean went to Chicago where he was
employed by a wholesale carpet house. Coming back to his old home, he
son found one of his own.
Our brother was united in marriage May 9, 1925, to Miss Edna Ward,
of Atoka. The happy couple founded their home in Atoka, and had begun a
very happy married life when the Great Master Called him home.
Becoming suddenly sick it was seen that an operation was the only
thing possible. Carried by a group of his friends, Merril was put on the
train to Dallas Thursday afternoon. Saturday morning we heard that he
had gained release from his sickness thru the eternal portals.
Merril was a member of the DeMolay Lodge of Atoka.
He early confessed his savior and united with the Christian Church
of Atoka. Later he transferred his membership to the Baptist Church to
be with his wife.
Our friend and brother leaves to mourn his loss, his good wife his
father and mother, two brothers and one sister, besides a host of
friends who are deeply grieved that one whose prospects of success were
so bright whose home life was ideal would be taken from our midst.
Note: By Submitter - I am a very distant relative of Merril Dean.
His Great-grandfather, Elisha Dean, was a brother to my husbands GG-Grandfather.
