Millard L. (Sam) Lowe
Graveside services for Millard L. (Sam) Lowe 74, Atoka, were
conducted Saturday July 29 at 10 a.m. at the Mountain Valley Home
Cemetery at Daisy, Rev. Wayne Edgar officiated.
Brown's Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.
He died Wednesday July 26, 1995 at Texoma Medical Center in
Denison, Tx.
A WWII veteran, he was born September 5, 1920 at Daisy, OK. He was
the son of Esaw and Ollie (Newkirk) Lowe. He was a Mason, and a retired
heavy equipment mechanic from Bert-Smith Equipment Co in Oklahoma City.
Having attended school at Daisy, he entered the Army October 29,
1942 and received his training at Camp Campbell, Ky. and Ft. Sill, Ok.
and was discharged March 25, 1945. He served in Sicily, South France,
Rome, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the EAME Theatre
with one Silver Star, one Bronze Arrowhead, Victory Ribbon, and Good
Conduct Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esaw and Ollie (Newkirk)
Lowe; four brothers John, Frank ("Bus"), Marvin, and Ray Lowe;
and one sister Barzella Ross; one nephew Bruce Allen Ross; and two
great-great nephews.
Survivors include one sister, Velma Taylor Oklahoma City; two
sisters-in-law Alene Lowe and Tressie Lowe of Atoka; and a special
friend Elaine Edgar, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives
and friends.
