Beckham County Volunteers

If you have books you would like to do lookups in for Beckham county,

The Willow Book

In 1992 a group of people formed the Willow Community Historical
Association and proceeded to write, compile, and eventually publish a
book called THE WILLOW COMMUNITY - A History of the Pioneer Town in Greer
County, Oklahoma, Its Surrounding Communities and Families: 1898 - 1994.
Many people were involved in creating this book - young and old, current
and former residents, people from near and far - all who had some
connection, memory, or story to share of someone who once lived in the
Willow "community".
The steering committee/editors were Max Post, Norma McMurtry Hill and
Murl Thomas Wootton - all who grew up in the Willow area.

This 'Willow area' includes the communities of Ocina, Spring Creek,
Plainview, Brinkman, Chalk Bluff, Moravia, Jester, Bettina,
Haystack/McKissack, Ozona, Urbana, Laura Moore, Eastview, Township,
Arbor, Eagan, Lake Creek, Dunbar, Red Front, and others in the northern
half of Greer and extending into southern Beckham county.

This book is no longer available for purchase, but copies were donated to
several libraries for public use and research. These include:

State Archives in Okla City
Altus Library
Amarillo Library
Sayre Library
Elk City Library
Dallas Library
Mangum Library
Mangum Museum

If anyone cannot get to one of these resources, I would be glad to do
look-ups to see if your ancestors are included in the book.
