CASE
Iris Elfrieda CASE was born February 3, 1929, in Paden. She died December
11, 1989, in a hospital in Nashville, TN. Funeral services were held December
14 at the First Baptist Church in Prague with Rev. Paul HEARD, assisted by
Rev. J. B. WHITE, officiating. Burial was in the Paden Cemetery.
She had been a resident of the Prague area for 30 years. She was a retired
aircraft order clerk from Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. She was
a member of the Prague Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron Wesley FIPPS and Johnnie
Lee Oliver FIPPS, and one grandson, Jon Michael CASE on April 18, 1977. She
was married to Raymond Wright CASE on May 19, 1944, in Okemah. He survives.
Other survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Katie CASE
of Shawnee; her three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Richard HARWELL
of Meeker, Donna and Dan FREY of Prague, June and Gary DAVIDSON of Charlotte,
NC; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dalford FIPPS of Milford, MI, and Maurice
and Irene FIPPS of Moore; seven grandchildren and one granddaughter-in-law,
Jeff and Doty CASE, Shawna CASE, Craig HARWELL, Anja HEIDGERKEN, Amber
HEIDGARKEN, Mark DAVIDSON and Ross DAVIDSON; and one step-granddaughter,
Sabrina FREY.
MORRISON
Buford MORRISON was born November 24, 1919, at Lenna. He died December 16,
1989, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. No information
was given on his funeral services or interment.
He graduated from Stidham High School and Haskell Institute in Lawrence,
KS. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 315th Infantry and served in Europe
in World War II. He was employed with the United States Bureau of Indian
Affairs (BIA), serving in both New Mexico and Kansas before retiring in 1976
as the Superintendent for the BIA in Wewoka. He moved to Ottawa in 1975.
He was a member of the North Baptist Church, Ottawa, the National Association
of Retired Federal Employees, and the Ottawa Stroke Club. He was married
to Barbara Jane SHEPHERD of Ottawa on December 10, 1947. She preceded him
in death on November 19, 1984. He then married Joanne Marie GARRISON on May
16, 1988.
He was the son of Major Chester and Carrie Wood MORRISON, both deceased.
Also preceding him in death was a brother and sister, Jackie MORRISON and
Eloise MORRISON. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, of the home; four stepsons,
Shepherd COLLINS and his wife Judi of Ottawa, Jay GARRISON of Maryland, Jeff
GARRISON of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, and James GARRISON and his wife Carole
of Olathe, KS; one brother, John Levi MORRISON of Yuma, AZ; six sisters,
Hattie JONES, Dorothy REED, and Hettie ROBINSON, all of Eufaula, Mary EDWARDS
and Lenora COPELAND of Arvin, CA, and Liz SPEAR of Dustin; three
step-granddaughters, Julie THURO, Angie Dawn COLLINS, and Jamie Lee GARRISON;
two step-great-grandchildren, Joshua THURO and Christopher COLLINS.

LOWE
Mandy LOWE was born September 15, 1923. She died January 29, 1990, in Tulsa.
Three services were held for her. Wake services were held January 31 at the
Shurden Chapel in Henryetta, all night services were January 1, and funeral
services were on February 2 at the Trenton Baptist Church in Hanna, under
the direction of Sherden Funeral Home. Burial was in the Proctor Cemetery.
Her survivors include her husband, Tom LOWE of the home; her three sons,
Amos LOWE and Thomas LOWE, both of Hanna, and Eddie LOWE of Okmulgee; one
daughter, Wanda WILLIAMSON of Hanna; four brothers, Louis PROCTOR of Hanna,
John PROCTOR of Oklahoma City, Sam PROCTOR of Tahlequah, and James PROCTOR
of Glenpool; one sister, Annie BILLY of Hanna; 12 grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.
ALEXANDER
Mary Harjo ALEXANDER was born on July 9, 1915 in Okemah. She died January
7, 1990 at her home. No information was given on her funeral or interment
other than her pallbearers were her grandsons, Stan PEAK, Jr., William James
PEAK, Michael ALEXANDER, Eddie ALEXANDER, Junior ALEXANDER, and Henry HARJO,
Jr.
She attended Oakdale School in Okmulgee and Eufaula Indian Boarding School.
She was baptized in 1937 at the Osage Baptist Church in Pawhuska, but she
was a member of Oakhurst Indian Fellowship Baptist Church for 30 years. At
Oakurst, she held several offices, with her last position being WMU President.
She was a retired seamstress from Bryan Infants Wear after 30 years of service.
She was the daughter of Lewie Eufaula HARJO and Susie SOLOMON. She married
William Jacob ALEXANDER of September 1, 1934, in Okmulgee. He survives. Her
other survivors include her children, Robert ALEXANDER of Miami, E. J. ALEXANDER
of Oakhurst, Jimmy ALEXANDER of Glenpool, Mary Sue ALEXANDER of Tulsa, and
Charles ALEXANDER of Tahlequah; one sister, Maryland WILLIE of Morris; one
uncle, Rev. Henry HARJO of Okemah; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren,
and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
SIMMERS
Sarah SIMMERS was born November 12, 1904, in Okmulgee. She died in January,
1990. No day of death was given. Two services were held for her. An all night
wake service was held January 25 at Newtown Methodist Indian Church. Speakers
were Bud SULLIVAN, George Henry AUTAUBO, Jr., Togo BERRYHILL and several
other speakers. Funeral services were conducted February January 26 with
Rev. Floyd PETERSand Rev. Mike HARJO officiating. Pall pearers were Freeland
POWELL, Samuel SIMMERS, Tommy GRAYSON, Sr., George Henry AUTAUBO, Jr., Robert
KAHBEAH, Robert SMITH, Jr., Edward Lee SIMMERS, Freddie VAN WOUDENBERG and
Henry HICKS, Jr. Burial was in the Miller Memorial Cemetery.
She was a faithful member of Newtown Methodist, a dedicated member of United
Methodist Womens Society, a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Bernice HICKS and Pauline GRAYSON;
and two brothers, John MILLER and Sam MILLER. She is survived by her three
sons, Dave POWELL and Abraham SIMMERS of Okmulgee, and Curtis SIMMERS of
Westminister, MD; her three daughters, Esther VAN WOUDENBERG of Glenpool,
Rebecca AUTAUBO and Priscella KAHBEAH of Okmulgee; one sister, Polly HOMMA
of the home; and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
STENSGARD
Diana Elizabeth Factor STENSGARD was born May 3, 1946. She died January 2,
1990 in Goldsboro, NC. Funeral services were held January 8 at the Montesoma
Indian Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan PHILLIPS, Jr., and Boots FIXICO
officiating. Pallbearers were Luther FACTOR, Mike STERNBECK, Leonard YAHOLA,
Steve YAHOLA, James KING, David Allen KING, Archie MASON and David SKEETER.
Burial was in the Montesoma church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral
Home.
She graduated from Okemah High School in 1964 and served five years in the
U.S. Air Force. She married James I. STENSGARD in 1969 in Shreveport, LA.
She was the daughter of Elizabeth BIGGS and Joseph FACTOR. Her father is
deceased. She is survived by her husband of the home in Goldsboro, NC; her
three daughters, Tina of Bellingham, WA, Alicia and Mary, both of the home;
her mother, Elizabeth DAVIS of Okmulgee; her grandmother, Ada SCOTT of Okemah;
one brother, Luther FACTOR of Tulsa; and a sister, Patricia FACTOR of Bristow.
WEST
Louise WEST was born April 14, 1911, in McIntosh County. She died January
7, 1990, at the Creek Nation Hospital in Okemah. Funeral services were held
January 11 at Hutchachuppa Indian Baptist Church, where she was a member.
Rev. Christopher HARJO officiated the service. Music was provided by the
Hutchachuppa Church. Pallbearers were Eugene HARJO, Jeff SCOTT, Howard WEST,
Charles WEST, Chester FIELDS, and Harley ROBERTS, JR. No information was
given on the place of interment.
She was the daughter of Sam and Mariah Riley WEST, both deceased. She also
was preceded in death by her husband, Robert WEST in 1977. She was survived
by her two sons, Barney WEST and Bill WEST, both of Weleetka; her six daughters,
Esther WEST, Lillian WEST and Sally WEST, all of Weleetka, Wanda KING of
Ryal, Ann PARTON of Oklahoma City, and Mary WEST of Henryetta; 24 grandchildren
and 23 great grandchildren.
WILLIAMS
Alice Tihen WILLIAMS was born May 1, 1915 in Weleetka. She died January 9,
1990, in Tulsa. Funeral services were held January 12 at Thewale Indian Baptist
Church, where she was a member. Officiating the service were Rev. Don WALKER
and Rev. Eastman WHITLOW. Pallbearers were Vincent WILLIAMS, Marty WILLIAMS,
Shawn WILLIAMS, Shane BERRY, Wesley BERRY and Bradley LUELLEN. No information
was given on the place of interment.
In addition to her church membership, she was a homemaker and a member of
the Dustin Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mariah KELLEY. She is survived
by her husband, Irwin WILLIAMS of the home; her three sons, Billy WILLIAMS
of Weleetka, Barton WILLIAMS of Henryetta, and Bobby WILLIAMS of Okmulgee;
her three daughters, Jewell BERRY of Hanna, Clemma LUELLEN of Weleetka, and
Carolyn HAMONTREE of Henryetta; four sisters, Sarah SMITH and Annie DAVIS,
both of Weleetka, and Millie BOWMAN and Lillie DIACUS, both of Ft. Thomas,
AZ; 11 grandchidlren and 7 great grandchildren.
WARREN
Margaret L. WARREN (Tootsie Tilley) was born June 26, 1924, in Mason. She
died in January 1990. No day of death was given. Funeral services were held
at the Glenwood Assembly of God in Sapulpa, where she was a member. Rev.
Paul THOMPSON and Otto GOINS officiated. Burial was in the Southern Heights
Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home.
She married Charles WARREN July 31, 1952, in Stillwell. He survives. She
also is survived by her daughters, Clara Ann HUTCHINGS of Bristow, and Kathryn
Rose PIERCE of Tulsa; brothers Jim TILLEY of Okemah, and Joe TILLEY of Mason;
and a sister, Lydia BLUFORD of Oklahoma City.
BURGESS
Monroe Vernon BURGESS, Sr., was born August 28, 1928, in Okmulgee. He died
January 9, 1990, in Tulsa. Funeral services were held January 12 at Little
Cussetah Indian Methodist Church, where he was a member. No information was
given on the funeral services or place of interment.
He was married to Esther KUYKENDALL on January 4, 1957. She survives. Also
surviving him are his two sons, Jan BURGESS and Monroe BURGESS, Jr., both
of Okmulgee; his five daughters, Tina BURGESS, Karen BURGESS, Georgia HARJO,
and Mulsie TECUMSEH, all of Okmulgee, and Melissa BURGESS of Okemah; and
one brother Woodrow BURGESS of Broken Arrow.
BEAVER
Della Mae BEAVER was born February 18, 1911, in Holdenville. She died January
7, 1990, in Tulsa. Wake survices were conducted January 10 at Buchanan Memorial
Chapel. Funeral services were held January 11at the Big Cussetah United Methodist
Church, where she was a member. Officiating the service was Rev. Jimmy ALEXANDER,
assisted by Rev. Mike HARJO. Pallbearers were Edwin MOORE, Jr., Buddy MOORE,
David G. MOORE, Chuck McHENRY, Jess FREEMAN, Jr., John FREEMAN, Henry
TARPALECHEE, Simpson HILL, Rev. Willie GOODEN, Kenneth MOORE, Edwin S. MOORE,
Sr., Ben BEAVER, George TIGER, Ron FROMAN, and Jerry LOWERY. No information
was given about the place of interment.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John BEAVER, in 1971; her son,
John BEAVER, Jr., in 1989; and her sister, Elizabeth HORTON in 1989. She
is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Blanche BEAVER
of Del City, Robert and Marian BEAVER of Jenks, and Pete and Bridget BEAVER
of Muskogee; her six daughters, Letha RUTHERFORD of Kearney, AZ, Miley HARGIS
of Jenks, Cora BERRYHILL of Midwest City, Jean FROMAN of Eufaula, Hanna L.
BEAVER of Okmulgee, and Sally WITTMAN of Jenks; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ed
(Sally) MOORE of Muskogee; one brother-in-law and his wife, Ben and Louise
BEAVER of Morris; one daughter-in-law, Twilla BEAVER of Henryetta; 27
grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
KING
Juanita Mae KING was born November 26, 1927, in Bryant. She died January
18, 1990, in a Tulsa hospital. A song service was held for her in the Merritt
Funeral Service Cottage Chapel on January 21 with funeral services also held
there the following day. Officiating the service was Rev. John LOWE. Burial
was in the Barnett Family Cemetery.
She was a homemaker and a member of Arbeka Indian Baptist Church. She was
the daughter of George and Rhoda WEST.
Her survivors include her mother of Bryant; four sons, Roger Dale JONES,
Danny Ray KING, and Dale Edward KING, all of Henryetta, and David Charles
KING of Lawrence, KS; two daughters, Carolyn KING of Henryetta and Sheralyn
GARMON of Piedmont, AL; and five grandchildren.

GORDON
Joshua Andrew GORDON was born August 2, 1982, in Claremore. He died February
10, 1990, in Okmulgee. Wake services were held February 13 at Buchanan Memorial
Chapel. Funeral services were conducted February 14 at Big Cussetah United
Methodist Church with Rev. Robert PINEZADDLEBY officiating, and Rev. Mike
HARJO assisting. Pallbearers were Carroll MAHONEY, Leslie MAHONEY, Terry
COBB and Larry SHARP. Honorary pallbearers were Robbie JONES, James HOLATA,
Mathew HOLATA, Mark HOLATA, Edward BAILEY, Jr., John HOLATA and Eugene ENDRES.
Interment was in the Big Cussetah Cemetery.
He was seven years old and in second grade at the Schulter Elementary School.
His survivors include his parents, Daniel and Mary Jean GORDON of the home
in Schulter; one sister, Kacy Danielle GORDON of the home; maternal grandmother,
Dorothy PINEZADDLEBY of Lawrence, KS; maternal grandfather James HOLATA of
Oklahoma City; Paternal grandmother Jane JONES of Schulter; paternal grandfather,
Ruben H. GORDON of Garber; paternal great grandfather, Ralph WHITE of Dacoma;
and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
ALEXANDER
Alsephine ALEXANDER was born June 1, 1909, in Tulsa. She died December 28,
1989. Funeral services were held December 30 at the Haikey Chapel Church,
where she was a member. Interment was in the Bixby Cemetery.
She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa and Baptist Nurses Training
in Muskogee in the early 30s. She worked in Albuquerque area city hospitals
before moving to Broken Arrow in 1987.
She was the daughter of Nahar KEY and Susie FRY. On August 10, 1944, she
was married to Geronimo ALEXANDER, who survives. Her other survivors include
her son and his wife, Micco and Iris ALEXANDER of St. Louis Park, MN;
sister-in-law Josephine McHENRY of Broken Arrow; and brother-in-law Glen
ALEXANDER of Dallas, TX.
HORTON
Elizabeth F. HORTON was born February 26, 1909, at Holdenville. She died
December 27, 1989, at Tulsa. Funeral services were held December 30
at Big Cussetah United Methodist Church. No other information was given on
the funeral or interment.
She was a member of Middle Creek Indian Baptist Church in Lamar. She attended
Eufaula and Riverside Boarding Schools and graduated from Chilocco High School.
She was retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1966 at Lawton.
She was the daughter of Willie FOX and Cora Alexander FOX, both deceased.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert HORTON, in December
1980; and her sister, Della Mae BEAVER in January 1990. Her survivors include
her two daughters, Anna HANCOCK of Okmulgee, and Bobbie Sue ERWIN of Clearwater,
KS; her son, Lewis HORTON of Ft. Smith, AR; four grandsons, Ronnie HANCOCK
of Okmulgee, Michael HORTON of Arlington, TX, and Mark HORTON of Lawton;
two granddaughters, Stacy ERWIN of Clearwater, KS, and Janet CROW of Lawton;
two great grandchildren, Jessica Elizabeth ERWIN of Okmulgee, and Justin
Robert CROW of Lawton; six nieces and three nephews.
PHILLIPS
The Rev. Daniel PHILLIPS, Jr., was born June 5, 1925, in McIntosh County.
He died February 18 1990, at the Community Hospital Lakeview in Eufaula.
Prayer services were held February 19 at the Little Coweta Indian Baptist
Church, where he was a member, with funeral services conducted February 10,
also at the church. Rev. George JESSE and Rev. J.B. FISH officiated the service.
Pallbearers were Jack BEDFORD, Daniel DEERE, Kenneth LOMA, Michael DEERE,
Adam JONES, Jr., and Sonny BARNETT. John KELLEY was honorary pallbearer.
Graveside services were held in the Greenwood Cemetery conducted by the Eufaula
VFW Post 8798, with interment following.
He was an Army veteran and POW survivor of World War II. He served as a
missionary to the Creek Indian churches and was a member of the DAV and the
Eufaula VFW Post 8798. He had been a resident of in Stedham.
He was the son of Daniel and Mandy Hill PHILLIPS, Sr., both deceased. He
was married to Mina HARJO in Columbus, KS, June 4, 1974. She survives. He
was also survived by his four daughters, Ramona BEDFORD and Jena LOMA, both
of Eufaula, and Twanna Sue DEERE and Amanda MIDDLETON, both of Stidham; two
brothers, Birdcreek PHILLIIPS and Franklin D. PHILLIPS, both of Eufaula;
a sister, Mildred KETCHISHAWNO of Shawnee; six grandchildren; and an aunt,
Emma LEWIS of Eufaula.

WATTS
Henryetta - Pansy WATTS was born November 22, 1916, in Weleetka. She died
Apri l1, 1990. Funeral services were held April 7. Burial was at the Scott
Family Cemetery south of Henryetta.
She was a member of the Thawalee Indian Baptist Church. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Wess WATTS, on August 12, 1978. Her survivors include
her son, Clyde WATTS of Checotah; her two daughters, Marilyn SABINE of Garner
Valley, CA, and Virginia RYAN of Chino, CA; one broother, Claude TIGER of
Weleetka; three sisters, Elizabeth THOMAS of Wichita, KS, Lucy BROWN of Weleetka,
and Louise SMITH of Wichita, KS; eight grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
EMERSON
Checotah - Robin Shellea EMERSON was born June 7, 1955, in Muskogee. She
died April 6, 1990, at Muskogee Regional Medical Center. Funeral services
were held April 6 at the First Baptist Church in Checotah, where she was
a member. Officiating the service were Rev. Elbert SMITH and Rev. Richard
FORD. Pallbearers were Randy KNIGHT, Windsor LLEWELLYN, Jim CANNON, Lee STIDHAM,
Wayne WILLIAMS, and Lee MARSHALL. Burial was in the Greenlawn Cemetery.
She was a sixth grade science teacher in the Checotah Public School System.
She coached sixth grade girls basketball and was named teacher of the year
in 1989. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilliary.
She was the daughter of Dan and Keitha Sneed CHILDERS, who survive. Her other
survivors include her husband, Jay EMERSON, of the home; her children, Josh
EMERSON, Jeremy EMERSON,and Jamie EMERSON, all of the home; one sister, Dana
MINNICK of Checotah; and her grandmother, Opal SNEED of Checotah.
CHILDERS
Modesta, CA - Claude Blue CHILDERS was born April 29, 1920. He
died March 19, 1990, in Medesto, CA. Services were held at the Salas Brothers
Funeral Chapel in Modesto. No other information was given on his funeral
services or interment.
He was the son of Sauce and Dora CHILDERS, who are deceased. He is survived
by his wife, Dorothy F. CHILDERS, of Ceres, CA; his two sons, Marchie Joe
CHILDERS of Arkansas, and James CHILDERS of Modesto, CA; four step-children,
Becky BAILEY, Donna MCDONALD, Ray HEATHCOCK, all of Ceres, CA, and Larry
HEATHCOCK of Phoenix, AZ; Three brothers, Newman CHILDERS of Tulsa, and Dan
CHILDERS and Buddy CHILDERS, both of Checotah; six sisters, Melvina BROUGH
of Tulsa, Elizabeth JACOBS of Checotah, Rachel KISSEY of Muskogee, Sarah
McCLAIN of Bixby, Bobbie THAMES of Okmulgee, and Emma Lee STANLEY of Parker,
AZ; one aunt, Sue HARPER of Checotah; 14 grandchildren and 12 great
grandchildren.
FRANCIS
Eufaula - Lena FRANCIS was born December 15, 1920, in McIntosh County. She
died April 20, 1990, at the Creek Community Hospital in Okemah. A song service
was held April 22 at Artussee Indian Baptist Church, where she was a member.
Funeral services followed on April 23, also at the church, officiated by
Rev. Bunny SOWEKA and Rev. Ammons BEAN. Pallbearers were Daniel BILLY, Buddy
LINDSEY, Cleo CLOUD, Johnny BILLY, Johnny Tuffy BILLY, and Zerndorf
BILLY. Burial was in the Artusse Cemetery.
She was the daughter of Billy and Martha Jones BILLY, both deceased. She
was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy FRANCIS in 1971. Her survivors
include her two sons, Ronald HOLUBY of Edmond and Jimmy BILLY of Washington;
her three daughters, Peggy HOLUBY of Eufaula, Sandra FOWLER of Weleetka and
Leah CLOUD, both of Arlington, TX; two brothers, Thompson BILLY and Robert
JONES of Muskogee; and 13 grandchildren.
ROBERTS
Weleetka - Benjamin Lewis Robin ROBERTS was born February 21,
1953, in Tahlequah. He died April 19, 1990, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services
were held April 24 at Nuyaka Indian Baptist Church with Rev. Wilson HICKS
officiating. Pallbearers were Louis MORGAN, Sammy DEERE, Bruce RANDALL, Jimmy
DEERE, Bunky LOWE and Sonny ROBERTS. Honorary pallbearers were Rocky RANDALL,
Dean DEERE, Raymond LOWE, Roy ROBERTS, Rusty LOWE and Adrian BIRDCREEK. Burial
was a Nuyaka Cemetery.
He was the son of Frisco and Frances Birdcreek ROBERTS, who preceded him
in death. He is survived by his son, Kevin ROBERTS of Tulsa; six brothers,
Joe Edward CONARD of Dallas, Mandell ROBERTS of Tulsa, Terry ROBERTS and
Randy ROBERTS, both of Oklahoma City, and Allen ROBERTS and Tony ROBERTS,
both of Fort Arthur, TX; and two sisters, Shirley YARGEE of Weleetka and
Ida ROBERTS of Tulsa.
JACKSON
Okemah - Ella Mae JACKSON was born July 21, 1914, in Eufaula. She died April
24, 1990, at St. Anthonys Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services
were held April 28 at the Greenleaf Indian Baptist Church, where she was
a member. Officiating were Rev. John BURGESS and Rev. Harold TURNER. Burial
was at Greenleaf Church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Setepakee SULPHUR, and
her husband, Andrew JACKSON. Surviving her were her four sons, Eugene E.
JACKSON of Seminole, Saber JACKSON of Tulsa, Kenneth JACKSON of Cromwell,

Preston - Christopher Clay CHISHOLM, 15, died April 30, 1990. No information
was given on his birth date or place. Two services were conducted. Services
were held May 2 at Buchanan Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mike HARJO and
Rev. Bunny HILL officiating, followed by services May 3 at the Preston High
School Gymnasium with Rev. Jim WALLER and Rev. Adrian JACOBS officiating.
No other information was given on his services or place of interment.
He was a student at Preston Junior High School, played basketball and was
listed on the student honor roll. He was a member of the Victory Christian
Center in Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather George C. AUTAUBO. Survivors
include his parents, Frank and Linda CHISHOLM of the home; his brother, Frank
Eugene CHISHOLM, his two sisters, Bonnie CHISHOLM and Crystal CHISHOLM, and
one nephew, Charles Justin BROWN, all of the home; maternal grandmother,
Rebecca AUTAUBO; maternal grandfather (?) Johnny J. ASBURY of Henryetta;
paternal grandmother, Winona WILLIAMS of Lawton; and paternal grandfather,

TIGER
MUSKOGEE - Jerome Christopher Coleman TIGER was born July 29, 1967. He died
May 9, 1990. Funeral services were held May 12 in the Bradley Belltower
Chapel with Dr. Sue Ellen READ officiating. Rev. Tommy PHILLIPS conducted
a portion of the service in Creek and Linda EPPERLY read A Poem To
An Athlete Dying Young. Pallbearers were Keven CHARBONEAU, Rodney HAWKINS,
Aaron ROBBINS, Joey TIGER, Kelly BRIGGS, Jimbo YANDELL and Kevin WAIT. Honorary
Pallbearers were Steve DAVIS, Steve SMITH, Jack OSBURN, Freeman MITCHELL,
Richard PALMER, Dr. Tom LUKER, John ELLIS, Kenny BOND and Kelly BOND. Burial
was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula.
From a front page story on his death, the following personal information
was given. In high school he was an all-district linebacker for the Muskogee
High School football team, played at Northeastern State University and was
a Golden Gloves/Amateur Athletic Union champion boxer. In 1984, he won
first-place for Seminole Warrior, and second-place for Winter
Hardship in the painting category at the Statewide Indian Student Art
Region Show at the Muskogee Education Center. In 1985, his tempera painting
Creek Medicine Maker received the Tooter Arrington Memorial Award
as best of show in the Five Civilized Tribes Museum student art show. His
works were on display at the Tiger Art Gallery in Muskogee along with his
fathers and thos of his sister, Dana TIGER, and his uncle, Johnny TIGER,
Jr. He was a rising artist, son of famous Creek artist Jerome TIGER, who
preceded him in death in 1967, and Peggy TIGER of the home, who survives.
His other survivors include his brothers and sisters, Joseph TIGER, Sean
TIGER, and David TIGER, Dana TIGER and Lisa TIGER, all of Muskogee; his uncle,
Johnny TIGER, Jr., of Muskogee, also a famous Creek artist; John and Lucinda
TIGER of Muskogee; and his fiance, Gretchen JOHNSON of Muskogee.
LOGAN
MUSKOGEE - Susan Vann LOGAN was born September 3, 1920, in Muskogee. She
died April 20, 1990. Funeral services were held April 24 at the Catholic
Church of the Assumption, where she had a lifelong affiliation, with Father
Patrick GAALAAS officiating. Pallbearers were John Baker LOGAN III, James
Lee LOGAN, Antonio JACKSON, Little Jim SQUIRREL, Jr., Michael WASHINGTON
and Don WALDRON. Honorary pallbeaarers were Eugene LOGAN, Perry LOGAN,
Gave LOGAN, James WIEDEL and George WIEDEL. Burial was at the Grayson Cemetery
in Oktaha.
She was a member of the Muskogee African Violet Society and Tulsa African
Violet Society.
She was the daughter of Joseph and Annie Bullet VANN, both deceased. She
is survived by her seven children, John Baker LOGAN, Jr., Linda Jo WILLIAMS,
Leona Mae ROSSBACK, Diana Jean MARTIN, Edith Pauline MORGAN, Lucille Imogene
SQUIRREL and Saundra Katherine TIGER; her sister, Nancy LOGAN; her brother,
James M. VANN; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
TOMMANEY
BAKERSFIELD, CA - Daniel Vincent TOMMANEY was born October 14, 1917, in Eufaula.
He died April 21, 1990, at his home in Bakersfield, CA. Graveside services
wee held April 25 in Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike BRAUN
officiating.
He graduated from Chilocco Indian School and attended the University of Oklahoma.
He seved in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war he made his
home in Bakersfield and became a plumbing contractor. He retired in 1972.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vina TOMMANEY, in 1988. He is survived
by two brothers, John E. TOMMANEY of Fairfield, and Michael A. TOMMANEY of
Covina.
MINYARD
HENRYETTA - Lorena Thompson MINYARD was born March 15, 1911, at Henryetta.
She died March 29, 1990. Funeral services were held april 2 at Salem Baptist
Church with Rev. WOODY officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, John
MINYARD, Stephen MINYARD, Lendy ALLEN, Mark ALLEN, Timmy KINNEY, and Perry
BLANKENSHIP (representing Terry MINYARD, who was out of state). Burial was
in the Salem Cemetery.
She was the daughter of Thomas THOMPSON and Martha FIELDS. Her parents died
in 1931 and 1933 respectively. Also preceding her in death were brothers,
Russell THOMPSON in 1922, Richard THOMPSON in 1931, Robert THOMPSON in 1933,
William THOMPSON in 1933; and a half sister, Stella SANDS in 1941; and her
husband, Nealy Frank MINYARD in 1982. Her survivors include her three daughters,
Lou Joe KINNEY of the home, Charlena DUNLAP of Beggs, and Billie Sue ALLEN
of Anadarko; her three sons, Jerry MINYARD of the home, Tony MINYARD of Salem,
and Thomas
MINYARD of Taft, CA; four granddaughters and four great grandchildren.
LOWE
SAPULPA - Patterson M. LOWE was born June 25, 1912. He died May 6, 1990,
at Bartlett Memorial Medical Center. Funderal services were held May 10,
at Little Cussetah Baptist Church, where he was a member. Officiating the
service were Rev. Willis KNIGHT, Rev. Jonas PARTRIDGE and Jake WILDCAT.
Pallbearers were randy CLEVELAND, T.J. LARNEY, Joey STARKEY, Jerry HARJO,
Wiley WASHINGTON, Harold NAYLOR, and Doug FREEMAN. Honorary pallbearers were
Woodrow PERRY, Willie BEAVER, Willie WATASHE, Phillip COON, Lawrence WATASHE
and Joe RUGERS. Burial was at Little Cussetah Church Cemetery.
He had worked as a glass blower for Liberty Glass before retiring in 1974.
He was a resident of Sapulpa 57 years. He was a member of the Wind Clan and
from the tribal town of Greenleaf.
He was the son of John Herman LOWE and Rhoda Wesley LOWE, both deceased.
Also preceding him in death were his daughter , LaJunta Jean Lowe DELAWARE,
his first wife, Linda LOWE and his second wife Nancy LOWE. He was survived
by his daughter, Louella Jean WASHINGTON of Arlington, VA; grandson Rodney
DELAWARE of the home; two cusins, Lucy Mae GIBSON of Tahlequah, and Marcellus
WILLIAMS of Albuquerque, NM; nephew Sonny Robert HERROD, Jr., of Okemah;
four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a step-daughter, Virginia
Van DELSUM.
HARJO
WETUMKA - David Chief HARJO was born September 10, 1922, in Wetumka. He died
April 8, 1990. Funeral services were held April 10 at Sand Creek Baptist
Church near Okemah with Rev. J.B. Fish and Mose SCOTT officiating. Burial
was in the Wetumka Cemetery.
He attended Bacone College in Musskogee and the Mexico (MO) Military Academy.
He served as senior instructor at the United States Armys Camp Walter
in Texas fro 1943-46. He worked at the American Zink Plant until returning
to Wetumka in 1969.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bunny and Betsey Fife HARJO; his
brothers, Doc HARJO, Joe HARJO and Jake HARJO. He married Marie THATCHER
at Vian in 1942. She survives. His other survivors include his son and
daughter-in-law, David and Rhonda HARJO of Norman; one brother, Shot HARJO
of Wetumka; a sister, Elouise PROCTOR of Wetumka ad one granddaughter.
BURGESS
HENRYETTA - Ricky Lee BURGESS was born May 16, 1949, in Sapulpa. He died
May 17, 1990, at Henryetta Medical Center. Funeral services were held May
19 at Little Cussetah Church with Rev. George CHRISTY officiating. Pallbearers
were Lonnie CHRISTY, Elmer BURGESS, Tom COLLIER, and Dan SHERWOOD. Burial
was in the Salt Ceek Cemetery near Wilson.
He was a self-employed carpenter. His parents were Hughes and Artie BURGESS,
who both survive. Other survivors include his wife, Mary BURGESS, of
the home; and a sister, Beverly HUGHES of Sapulpa.

OKMULGEE - Freeman Little Joe HARJO, Jr., was born May 8, 1952.
He died September 1, 1990. Funeral services were held September 4 at the
Hickory Ground No. 1 Baptist Church, where he was a member. Officiating the
service were Rev. Mitchell TAYLOR and Rev. Chris HARJO. Pallbearers were
ryan B. HARJO, Chris C. HARJO, John KINGFISHER, Paul McNAC, George JACOBS,
and Wallace GAMBLER. Burial was at the Hickory Ground No. 1 Baptist Cemetery.
He was a construction worker and a U.S. Marine veteran. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Freeman and Nancy HARJO. His survivors included his
five sons, Jeremie HARJO, Yzetka HARJO, Cody HARJO, Carey HARJO and Casey
HARJO, all of Okmulgee; his two daughters, Nakota HARJO of Okmulgee, and
Delaine Jo HARJO of Bixby; three Brothers, Jim HARJO of Tulsa, Mitchell HARJO
of Okmulgee, and Frank HARJO of Henryetta; and one sister, Rachel KINGFISHER
of Bixby.
HARJO
OKEMAH - Dandy HARJO was born February 20, 1929, in Castle. He died September
3, 1990, at Westlake Nursing Center in Oklahoma City. Funeral services were
September 6 at Greenleaf Indian Baptist Church with Rev. John BURGESS
officiating. Pallbearers were Jerry DEERE, Nathaniel HARJO, Dewayne COON,
Van JOHNSON, Ralph HENNEHA, and Thomas DEERE. Burial was in the Quasardy
Cemetery.
He was a factory worker and the son of Newman and Anser Barnett HARJO, Sr.,
both deceased. His survivors include his wife, Betty Mae HARJO, of the home;
and three brothers, Richard HARJO, Edward HARJO, and Newman HARJO, Jr.
CHAMBERS
TIGER MOUNTAIN - Marshall A. CHAMBERS was born October 10, 1907, at McCurtain.
He died September 9, 1990, at his home. Graveside services were at the Oakwood
Cemetery in Wewoka, with Rev. John FACTOR officiating. Services were under
the direction of Merritt Funeral Home.
He was a retired oil field worker. He was preceded in death by two sons,
Junior Lee CHAMBERS and Frank Charles CHAMBERS. He married Bessie CONGER
in 1926. She survives. His other survivors include his two sons, Bob CHAMBERS
of Henryetta, and Donnie CHAMBERS of Harrah; his daughter, Marry KEEN of
Choctaw; three brothers, David of Paso, WA, Dewey CHAMBERS of Bakersfield,
CA, and W.J. CHAMBERS of Lindsey; two sisters, Emma JACKSON of Hanford, CA,
and Sylvia CRODD of Red Bluff, CA; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren,
and six great-great-grandchildren.
FOX
SAPULPA - Roger FOX was born May 9, 1962, in Claremore. He died August 26,
1990, at Sparks Memorial Hospital in Ft. Smith, AR. Wake services were held
August 28 followed by funeral services August 29 (at Little Cussetah Baptist
Church, where he was a member). Officiating the funeral was Rev.Willis KNIGHT.
Pallbearers were Warren BEMO, Anthony COLUMBUS, Mike COLUMBUS, Ronald HILL,
Russell HILL, and Calvin JAMES. Interment was at the Cussetah Cemetery.
He attended Sapulpa High School and Haskell Junior College in Lawrence, KS.
He was employed by Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.
His survivors include his parents, Herbert and Martha Wilson FOX of Sapulpa;
brothers Mark FOX of Kellyville, Steve FOX, Micah FOX, David FOX and Phillip
FOX, all of Sapulpa, and Adam FOX of Wagoner.
BLYTHE
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Edna M. BLYTHE was born March 21, 1923. She died March
29, 1990, in Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. No information
was given on the date and place of the funeral or interment.
She attended Eufaula Boarding School and Haskell Institute, and graduated
from the Methodist College of Christian Workers in Kansas City. She worked
in the Washington, D.C., library system for 24 years.
Her survivors include one brother, Luther J. BLYTHE of Moore; three nieces,
Linda BLYTHE of Moore, Kelly BLYTHE of Tulsa, and Tina BLYTHE of Dallas.

Dustin - Roley MARSHALL, 63, died October 30, 1990, in Wetumka. No information
was given on his birth date or location (although he would have been born
in 1927 from his age). A song survice was held October 31 at the Merritt
Funeral Cottage Chapel. Funeral services were held November 2 at Alabama
Quarsardy Church. Burial was in the Sand Creek Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie MARSHALL and one brother, Julius
MARSHALL. His survivors include his father, George MARSHALL; three brothers,
Sam MARSHALL of Weleetka, Oscar MARSHALL of Midwest City, and J. D. MARSHALL
of Del City; five sisters, Cindy MARSHALL and Sarah MARSHALL, both of Dustin,
and Loreene KELLOUGH, Georgina HICKS and Salina MARSHALL, all of Weleetka.
LEWIS
Palo Alto, CA - Rosalie LEWIS was born Februay 9, 1933, in Henryetta. She
died Octobr 17, 1990. Funeral services were conducted October 23 in
the Weogufkee Indian Baptist Church at Hanna. Rev. Newman KELLEY officiated.
Burial was in the Lewis and Fields Cemetery near Henryetta.
She had made her home in Palo Alto for the past four years. She was the daughter
of Mosey and Alice Bullett LEWIS, both deceased. She also was preceded in
death by a brother, Edmond LEWIS and a sister, Betty LEWIS. Her survivors
include her three daughters, Naomi Ruth HARJO of California, Estelline HARJO
of Norman, and Sue Ann HARJO of Okmulgee; two sons, Billy Joe KENWOOD of
Oklahoma, and Daniel HARJO of Stilwell; a brother, Billy Joe WATSON of Dustin;
three sisters, Wanda Fay HARJO of Hanna, Agnes RANDALL of Weleetka, and Celia
Rose SCHUTTZ of Durant; and 12 grandchildren.
JACKSON
Bristow - Funeral services for Louella McKay JACKSON, 61, were held October
19, 1990, at the Choska Indian Methodist Church, where she was an active
member. She was born in Bristow, but no other information was given on her
birth (her age would place her year of birth around 1921). Officiating the
funeral services were Rev. George MILLER and Rev. Mike HARJO. Pallbearers
were David PERKINS, David BIGPOND, Dout PARKER, Corky ALLEN, Roy Dean ALLEN,
Jim GUTIERREZ. Honorary pallbearers were Winey HARJO, Lucy BIGPOND, Vera
MASON, Evelyn PARKER, Patsy PRESSON and Opal HARJO. No information was given
on the place of interment.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie HARRY, in 1967 and her mother,
Sallie Scott HARRY in 1988. Her survivors include her husband, Don HAYWOOD;
three sons, Jim McKAY of Idabel, and Steve McKAY and Eddie McKAY, both of
Bristow; a sister, Lilliam MILLER of TX; three nephews, Ronnie MILLER of
Tulsa, Perry MILLER of MN, and Danny MILLER of TX; seven grandchildren, three
grand nephews along with nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends.
COX
Okmulgee - Porter M. COX, 66, died October 20, 1990, in Okmulgee. No information
was given on his birth date or location, but his age would fix the birth
year in 1924. Wake services were on October 22 at the Cantrell Ivory Chapel
in the Kelley Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Funeral services were held October
23 at ther New Town United Methodist Church in Okmulgee with Rev. Floyd PETERS
officiating. Pallbearers were W. R. COULSON, Jack BEVENUE, Charles ONEAL,
Jack HICKS, George FOWLER, Sr, and Harold FLEETWOOD. Members of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars, Post 1189, provided military rites. Burial was in the New
Town Cemetery.
He was a 19 year veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired construction worker.
His survivors include his son, Ronnie COX of Kansas City; his three daughters,
Peggy SIEDIK of Muskogee, Stella SOUTHWICK, and Mary Elizabeth COX, both
of Kansas City; two brothers, Claude COX of Okmulgee, and Rufus COX of Ada;
one sister, Mary Ann GORDON of Okmulgee; eight granddaughters and three
grandsons.
HARJO
Okmulgee - Jeremy C. HARJO was born May 8, 1976, in Claremore. He died November
2, 1990, in Vinita. A wake service was held at Hickory Ground No. 1 Church
south of Henryetta, with funeral services following on November 6 at the
church. Officiating the service were Rev. Mike McCONNELL and Harley BARNOWSKI.
Family members were the pallbearers. Burial was in the Hickory Ground
Cemetery.
He was a ninth-grade student at Okmulgee High School and attended the First
Baptist Church in Henryetta. He was preceded in death by his father,
Freeman HARJO in September. He is survived by his mother Sarah HARJO of Okmulgee;
four brothers, B. J. HARJO of Sand Springs, Cody HARJO and Corey HARJO, both
of Okmulgee, and Casey HARJO of Vian; one sister, Nakota HARJO of Okmulgee;
and his maternal grandmother, Cindy THOMPSON of Henryetta.

OKMULGEE - Jeremy DEERE was born December 21, 1972, at Henryetta. He died
November 22, 1990. Funeral services were held November 28 at Springs Baptist
Church of Sasakwa with the Rev. George JESSE officiating. Pallbearers were
Johnny Dale MORGAN, Ryan BUCKLEY, Richard BUCKLEY, Thomas MORGAN, Billy McLULLEN,
and David LENA. No information was given on the place of interment.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Weleetka. He is survived
by his mother and stepfather, Mona Barnett and Richard MORGAN of Okmulgee;
his father, Larry DEERE of Seminole; two brothers, Brook Reed NIMSEY of the
home, and Jason DEERE of Seminole; three sisters, Earley NIMSEY and Sunshine
NIMSEY of the home, and Jamie DEERE of Seminole; paternal grandfather, Buster
DEERE of Seminole; and maternal grandfather, William Buster BARNETT of Dustin.
NEAL
OKMULGEE - Lula I. NEAL was born January 7, 1921, in Haskell. She died November
24, 1990, at St.Francis Medical Center in Tulsa. Funeral services were held
November 28 at Concharty United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Officiating were Rev. Newman FRANK, Sr., and Rev. George MILLER. Burial was
in the Haskell Cemetery.
She was the daughter of Lewis and Ella ISAAC, both deceased. Also preceding
her in death were her husband, John L. NEIL; her son John L. NEIL, Jr.; and
one sister. Her survivors include her sons, Quinton NEAL of Okmulgee, Raymond
NEAL of Coweta, Albert NEAL, Dean NEAL and Richard NEAL of Haskell; her five
daughters, Ruth KING and Reda REDDICK, both of Haskell, Mary SCHUMACHER of
Chickasha, Loretta RIDLEY of Cyril, and Dorothy CREEK of Coweta; one sister,
Nancy RABY of Okmulgee; 19 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several
nieces and nephews.
TECUMSEH
OKMULGEE - Emma TECUMSEH was born October 21, 1899, in Okmulgee County, Indian
Territory. She died November 19, 1990, in St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa.
Three services were held for her. Prayer service was November 22 in the Leonard
Funeral Home Chapel, wake services were November 23 followed by her funeral
November 24, both held at Concharty Indian Methodist Church, where she was
a member. Funeral services were officiated by Rev. Harry LONG and Rev. Newman
FRANK. Burial was in the Tecumseh family cemetery.
She lived in Okmulgee all her life. Her parents were Miller BRUNER and Lucy
Colbert BRUNER, both deceased. Also preceding her in death were her husband,
Eddie TECUMSEH, on December 14, 1971. Her survivors include her two sons,
Ellis TECUMSEH and John TECUMSEH, both of Okmulgee; her daughter, Nicey WILSON
of Haskell; one brother, Tony BRUNER of Haskell; 17 grandchildren, 47 great
grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
SMITH
HANNA - Aaron Lee SMITH was born June 6, 1980, in Hanna. He died November
17, 1980. He was four months old. Funeral services were held November 20
at the Sand Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Don BUCKLEY and Rev. Frank
BILLY officiating. Pallbearers were Mason LEFTWICH, Jeffrey MEAD, Archie
SMITH and Yardeka BYRD. Burial was in the Smith family cemetery.
His survivors include his parents, Mickey Jr. and Shana Mead SMITH; a brother,
Jacob Emmitt Ray SMITH; sisters Charlette Clois SMITH and Sissey Ranelle
SMITH; maternal grandparents, Jerry MEAD of Weleetka and Sandra FISK of Wetumka;
and paternal grandparents, Mickey SMITH, Sr., and Lois SMITH of Hanna.
OTT
EUFAULA - Hattie Mitchell OTT was born February 19, 1896, in Eufaula, Indian
Territory. She died November 25, 1990. Funeral services were held November
27 at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Walter MULLICAN officiating.
She was a member of the Eufaula Indian Baptist Church. She was raised in
Eufaula and attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence, KS. She was the daughter
of Lewis and Billie MITCHELL, both deceased. Also preceding her in death
was her husband, Joel OTT; two daughters, Evelyn WILSON and Polly Ann MADELENO;
and two brothers, Soloman MITCHELL and Morris MITCHELL. She was survived
by two daughters, Deloria Joyce CALHOUN of Las Vegas, NV, and Billie Mae
PATRICK of Dallas; two sisters, Alice HILL of Eufaula and Leona MITCHELL
of Tulsa; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
