CANARD
ALBUQUERQUE - Virgil CANARD was born August 1, 1915, in Wetumka. He died November 10, 1994, at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Funeral services were held November 14 at St. Mark’s On-The-Mesa Episcopal Church. No information was given on the place of interment.
He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a 32nd degree Mason in the Oklahoma Chapter. He retired in 1970 after 37 years of employment with the U.S. Public Health Service, Indian Health Service. His father was principal chief of the Creek Nation from 1935-1939.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roley and Annie Carr CANARD. He is survived by his wife, Ruth S. CANARD; his sons, Robert L. CANARD and Rogers V. CANARD; his daughters, Linda C. DOERING and Patricia C. POSTON; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a brother, Curtis L. CANARD.

HAIN
EUFAULA - Norma Jean Douglas HAIN was born December 14, 1934, at Eufaula. She died August 23, 1994, at her home in Odessa, TX. Funeral services were held August 27 at Merritt Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Raymond BEAVER officiating. Pallbearers were Jack DAVIS, Tommy PICKERING, Roderick SCHNEIDER, Rosco HORN, Bruce DOUGLAS, and Jon TIGER. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
She was a graduate of Eufaula High School and Haskell Institute. She worked for American Airlines in Tulsa and was employed as an apartment complex rental manager in Odessa.
She was the daughter of Clarence and Lorene Owens DOUGLAS and was raised by her grandmother, Melissa Cosar DOUGLAS. She was preceded in death by her mother and grandmother. She was survived by her father of Eufaula; he daughter, Lisa Ann JONES of Denison TX; her three sons, Tommy Allen HAIN and Richard Todd HAIN, both of Odessa, and Toby Douglas HAIN of Berkeley, CA; two sisters, Raylene Hill SPOON of Bokchito, and Dianne REYNOLDS of Eufaula; two aunts, Jerlena Douglas KING of Eufaula, and Theda RUSHING of Albuquerque, NM; one uncle, John DOUGLAS of McAlester; and two grandchildren.

HICKMAN
HOBBS, NM - R. Michael HICKMAN was born February 4, 1953, in Hobbs, NM. He died November 7, 1994, at his home in Ft. Smith, AR. Funeral services were held November 11. No information was given on the location of the funeral.
He was an alumnus of Northeastern State University, the University of New Mexico, and TVI in Albuquerque. NM. He was employed as an electronics specialist.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mack and Mahaley Fish HICKMAN of Henryetta, and John and Mary Etta BAKER of Stilwell. He is survived by his parents, Archie R. and Hazel Baker HICKMAN of Hobbs; his son, Bobby HICKMAN of Jonesboro, AR; a sister, Barbara SCHAAPHOK of Hobbs; and three brothers, David HICKMAN of Washington, DC, Stephen HICKMAN of Hobbs, NM, and John HICKMAN of Pampa, TX.

LANDSBERRY
OKMULGEE - Gary Lee LANDSBERRY was born August 25, 1957, in Henryetta. He died November 29, 1994, in Sapulpa. Funeral services were held December 2 at the First Christian Church in Okmulgee with Rev. Bunny HILL officiating. Burial was in the Barnett Family Cemetery.  
He was a resident of Okmulgee and employed by Creek Nation Bingo. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert LANDSBERRY and Charles LANDSBERRY. He is survived by his parents, Jack and Gladys Albert LANDSBERRY; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Alvin LANDSBERRY of the home, Barney INGRAM of Okmulgee, Steven and Wayna LANDSBERRY of Henryetta, and Jack and Toni LANDSBERRY of Okmulgee; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary TAYLOR of Okmulgee, Helen and James LEE of Tulsa, and Linda and Richard SCHMUCK of Spiro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

REYNOLDS
OKLAHOMA CITY - Allie P. REYNOLDS was born February 10, 1917. He died December 27, 1994, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held December 30 at First Presbyterian Church. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
He had played professional baseball for the Cleveland Indians and the New York Yankees. He was a graduate of Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State University), was a charter member of May Avenue United Methodist Church and a 32nd Degree Mason, and was owner and president of Atlas Mud and Reynolds Petroleum. He was active in American Indian causes, including president of the American Indian Hall of Fame, president of the Center of the American Indian, and founding president of Red Earth. He was an original member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Gaming Authority Board and United Native Indian Tribal Youth (UNITY).  
He was a six-time American League All-Star and was the first league pitcher to have two no-hitters in the same season. As a result of this record, he won the Hickok Award for outstanding pitcher. He also established the record for the most World Series wins, with seven to his credit. As an American League player representative his work contributed to the formation of the player pension program, a job he considered his greatest contribution to baseball. His awards and honors included Oklahoma Heritage Hall of Fame; Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame of the Jim Thorpe Association; OSU Hall of Fame’s Hickok Award; Oklahoma Baseball Hall of Fame; Outstanding Indian, 1952-54; American Indian Athletic Hall of Fame; Creek Nation Medallion Award; Henry G. Bennett Award, OSU; and the Center of the American Indian Benefit Award. The Allie P. Reynolds Stadium at OSU is named for him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mary REYNOLDS; his wife, Earlene REYNOLDS; a son, Allie Dale REYNOLDS; grandson, Michael REYNOLDS; and his brother Jim REYNOLDS. His survivors include his daughter, Bobbye Kaye FERGUSON of San Francisco, CA; his son, J.D. REYNOLDS of Mustang; brother, Brenton REYNOLDS of Brooklyn, TX; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

WEST
THEWARLE - Nora WEST was born July 21, 1911, in Okfuskee County. She died November 23, 1994, in her home in Dustin. Funeral services were held November 26 at Thewarle Baptist Church, where she was a member and an elder. Rev. Bill BEAVER officiated the service. Pallbearers were Frank BELCHER, Richard “Tuskee” PHILLIPS, Perryman SUMKA, Willard WEST, Rufus WHITLOW, and Brian FIFE. Interment was in the West Family Cemetery.
Her survivors include her daughter, Betty FRYE of the home; and one brother, William WEST.

DUNSON
OKEMAH - James Earl “Sonny” Dunson was born July 5, 1939, in Tahlequah. He died March 18, 1995, in Okemah. A wake service was held at Thlopthlocco United Methodist Church on Mary 20, followed by funeral services at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne COOK of Sallisaw officiating, assisted by Ovonual JOHNSTON, Jr., of Rodgers, AR. No date of the funeral was given. Interment was in Highland Cemetery.
He was a retired veteran and a member of the National Guard. He was a member of the Okemah Golf Club, American Legion Post # 123, and Creek Nation Rodeo Club.  
He was survived by his parents, Earl and Lucille DUNSON, of Glenpool; his wife, Cynthia DUNSON, of the home; his son, Mike DUNSON of Okemah; one stepson, Toby DOWELL of Stillwater; his two daughters, Shari SARNIENTO of Sapulpa, and Wendy MONTEMAYOR of Oklahoma City; and a step-daughter, Page DAVIDSON of Stillwater; two brothers, Richard DUNSON and Steve DUNSON, both of Bixby; four sisters, Marion MITCHELL and Genese SWITCH, both of Midwest City, and Beverly PARKE and Lorene LUSTY, both of Tulsa; 10 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.

BUCKTROT
BRISTOW - Michael Eugene BUCKTROT was born July 21, 1951, in Claremore. He died March 18, 1995, in Tulsa. Graveside services were held March 22 at the Bucktrot Family Cemetery with Rev. Newman LITTLEBEAR officiating. Pallbearers were Cheyenne WATASHE, Paige WATASHE, Clifford LITTLEBEAR, Cecil HARRY, Jim LITTLEHEAD, and Chuck SLINKER.  
He was a welder employed with Lee C. Moore in Tulsa. He was a member of Mutteloke United Methodist Church.  
He was survived by his mother, Rosa MARSEY of Sapulpa; four brothers, Wade BUCKTROT, Jr., of Tulsa, Robert BUCKTROT of Cleveland, Jerry BUCKTROT and Kelly BUCKTROT, both of Cromwell; one sister, Mona GIBBS of Sapulpa; and a host of other family members.

CHALAKEE
BROKEN ARROW - Minnie Chisholm CHALAKEE was born May 17, 1903, at the family home in Indian Territory near present day Broken Arrow. She died February 20, 1995, at Claremore Indian Hospital.  Funeral services were held at Haikey Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Foster HAIKEY officiating. No information was given on the place of interment.
She was the daughter of Anderson and Rosa Fulokta CHISHOLM, both deceased. She and her two sisters, Pauline CHALAKEE and Lena CHALAKEE, graduated from a Bureau of Indian Affairs School in Lawrence, KS. Her mother Rosa donated three acres of family land to help establish Haikey Chapel on family property, at what is now l0lst and Memorial, and the family continued to live on the property until 1917. She married March Pinson MARTIN and had a son, Carl MARTIN, in 1923. She later married Jim CHALAKEE, who preceded her in death in 1969. She attended Springtown United Methodist Church as long as she was able and was a resident of Wood Manor Nursing Home in Claremore for the last seven years of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Pauline CHALAKEE. Her survivors include her sister, Lena Chisholm BERRYHILL of Okmulgee; her son, Carl MARTIN in Broken Arrow; three grandchildren, Sheryl DuPREE of Tulsa, James MARTIN of Sterling, VA, and Betty GERBER of Broken Arrow; seven great grandchildren, Anne JOHNSON and John SIMMS, both of Tulsa,Tika MARTIN of Medford, Mass., Kevin MARTIN and Kellie MARTIN of Sterling, VA, Jennifer DAY of Norman, and Gary GERBER, Jr., of Broken Arrow.

ROBERTSON
EUFAULA - Hetty Morrison ROBERTSON was born January 2, 1905, at Lenna. She died February 15, 1995. Funeral services were held February 18 at Merritt Funeral Chapel with Earnest BEST officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Major C. and Carrie Wood MORRISON; her husband, Joe E.ROBERTSON; her daughter, Alice HINESLEY; and one brother, Buford MORRISON.
Her survivors include two daughters, Bonnie BAYLESS of Bakersfield, CA, Esther ROBERTSON of Checotah; three sons, Joe ROBERTSON and Clarence ROBERTSON, both of Bakersfield, Herman ROBERTSON of Stockton, CA; five sisters, Hattie JAMES and Dortha REED, both of Lenna, Elizabeth SPEAR of Dustin, Leara COPELAND of Santa Maria, CA, Mary Edwards of Arvin, CA; and one brother, John Levi MORRISON of Yuma, AZ; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

HAYNES
HENRYETTA - Eugene B. HAYNES was born April 11, 1915, at Salem. He died May 20, 1995, at Henryetta. Funeral services were held May 23 at Hickory Ground Baptist Church #1where he was a member. Rev. Mitchell Taylor officiated the services. No information was given on the place of interment.  
He was a retired construction worker and the son of John and Ollie Morris HAYNES, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brother. He is survived by his wife, Yannah Fields HAYNES, whom he married in 1978; one sister Rosetta MORGAN of Hitchita; two brothers, Romen HAYNES of Glenpool, and Bud HAYNES of New Lenox, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

ROBERTS
HENRYETTA - Bridgett Ann ROBERTS was born August 8, 1961, in Claremore. She died May 10, 1995, at Tulsa Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held May 13 at the Robert Simons Funeral Home with Rev. Robert WASHINGTON officiating. Pallbearers were John KEYS, Lynn WALKER, Roger WOLF, Ralph HENNEHA, Frank BEAVER, Bobby HARJO, Charles COMPTON, and Charles CAREY.  Interment was in the Nuyaka Cemetery.
She was a member of Nuyaka Baptist Church. She is survived by her father, Tom BEAVER of Wewoka; her mother, Earnestine HENNEHA of Okemah; her husband, Amos ROBERTS, whom she married in 1982 in Okemah; her children, Amos ROBERTS, Jr., Sonya ROBERTS, and Sonja ROBERTS, all of the home; sisters, Marla COMPTON, Rebecca CAREY, and Michelle HOLBUTTA, all of Muskogee, and Kunuwv YAHOLA of Okemah; brothers, Tommy BEAVER, Freddie BEAVER, Thomas BEAVER, and Tom BEAVER, all of Wewoka; half sisters, and Regina BEAVER and Mary BEAVER, both of Wewoka.

SIMMERS
OKMULGEE - Curtis SIMMERS was born August 19, 1932, in Okmulgee. He died May 14, 1995, at his home. Graveside services were held at the Miller Cemetery with Rev. Mike HARJO and Rev. Harry LONG officiating.
He was a retired electrician and a member of Newtown United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Sarah Miller SIMMERS; two sisters, Bernice HICKS and Pauline GRAYSON; and two brothers, Abraham SIMMERS and David POWELL.
His survivors include his wife, May SIMMERS, of Bristow; his four sons, Edward SIMMERS of Sapulpa, Mike SIMMERS of Oaks, and Charlie SIMMERS and Toby SIMMERS, both of Okmulgee; his four daughters, Jackie SIMMERS of Sapulpa, Anna SIMMERS of Tulsa, Valerie SIMMERS of Okmulgee, and Carol THOMPSON of Bristow; three sisters, Esther VAN WOUDENBERG of Glenpool, Rebecca AUTABO and Priscilla KAHBEAH, both of Okmulgee; 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

TULSA
SAPULPA - Marilyn June TULSA was born January 18, 1944, in Tulsa. She died April 23, 1995, at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services were held at Pickett Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Officiating the service were Rev. Julienne JUDD and Roy BIGPOND. No information was given on the place of interment.
She was a graduate of Nathan Hale High School in Tulsa and Haskell Institute in Lawrence, KS. She also attended Northern Community College. She retired from Indian Health Service Division of Program Statistics after 30 years where she had also won an award for meritorious service. She was a member of the American Indian Society of Washington, D.C.
She was preceded in death by her son, Derick TIMENTWA. She was survived by her parents, July and Mae TULSA; her daughter, Kimberly TULSA of Tulsa; a grandson, David Aaron TULSA; three brothers, Johnathan TULSA and Gary BERRYHILL, both of Mounds, and Anthony TULSA of Tulsa; four sisters, Gloria WARE of Coweta, Genelle MEYER and Juanita THOMPSON, both of Mounds, and Kathy TULSA of Tulsa; a special friend, Don PENISKA of Arlington, VA; and other relatives and friends.

WHITLOW
WELEETKA - Mitchell John WHITLOW was born August 24, 1928, in Weleetka. He died May 16, 1995, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. Funeral services were held May 20 at the family residence with Rev. Richard LEE officiating. Interment was in the Scott Family Cemetery.
He was a self-employed plumber and an outdoor enthusiast who carved wood. He was associated with Alabama Quarsarty Ceremonial Ground.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Polly Barnett WHITLOW; four brothers, Lewis WHITLOW, Benjamin FIXICO, Jimmy FIXICO, and Samuel FIXICO; and two sisters, Katy Whitlow NAIL and Edna WHITLOW. His survivors include his wife Lillie Scott WHITLOW, whom he married in 1951; his children and their spouses, Michael and Carol WHITLOW and Wendell Wayne and Dorinda WHITLOW, all of Henryetta, Mitchell John WHITLOW, Jr., of Weleetka, Victoria and Luther JOHNSON of Okemah, and Joyce Ann and Rev. Richard LEE of Cache; a brother, Andre FIXICO of Houston; a sister, Edna Mae FIXICO of Okmulgee; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandson; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

GLENPOOL - Mildred H. BIBLE was born May 19, 1921, in Tulsa. She died June 2, 1995, at Hillcrest Medical Center. Funeral services were held June 7 at Haikey Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Rev. John LOWE officiated and Rev. George Miller and Rev. David WILDE assisted.  Pallbearers were Kenneth LOWE, David L. BIBLE, Ken CHILDERS, Rick WILDE, Robert Foxxy MILLER, and John WILSON. Honorary pallbearers were Geronimo ALEXANDER, Joe WASHINGTON, John JOHNSON, Jack SPRADLING, and Kyle TAYLOR.
She attended Coweta schools and was employed at Oral Roberts University. she was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lydia McKellop MALONE; and her husband, Dave BIBLE, whom she married in 1952 at Holdenville. Her survivors include her son and his wife, Billy Joe and Janice REED of Ft. Gibson; a sister, Velva Stout FARMER of Glenpool; two brothers, Sam W. CHISOLM of Taos, NM, and Andy CHISOLM of Tulsa; three stepdaughters, Kathryn JONES of Tulsa, Lucille MILLER of Ponca City, and Shirley THOMAS of Okmulgee; two stepsons, David E. BIBLE of Tulsa, and Robert BIBLE of Coweta; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

FOSHEE
HITCHITA - Henry Chester FOSHEE was born December 27, 1902. He died May 14, 1995, at his home. Funeral services were held May 17, 1995, at Hitchita Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Maxie ADAIR and Rev. Lamar KINDELL officiating. Pallbearers were Bobby DUVALL, Alvin POTTS, Sonny CARSON, Jimmy Dean POTTS, Joe Ray SPARKS, and Leo ALLISON. Honorary pallbearers were James HOGAN, Ed COOK, Willard CARPENTER, and Tom POTTS. Interment was in the Hitchita Lackey Cemetery.
He was an original allottee, a retired barber, and a member of New Hope Community Church, and the Checotah Masonic Lodge #86 AF & M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillian Walls FOSHEE; and three brothers. His survivors include his wife, Delma Smith FOSHEE, whom he married in 1928; one daughter, Norma WRAY of Hitchita; two granddaughters, Stephanie REED of Phoenix, AZ, and Sonja WRAY of Hitchita; and three great-grandchildren, Shawn WRAY of Hitchita, and Courtney REED and Brittney REED, both of Phoenix.

ROACH
LINCOLN, NE - Alice Bigpond ROACH was born July 20, 1928, in Mounds. She died May 21, 1995.  Funeral services were held May 24 at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment was in Green Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Sapulpa.
She worked at the Lincoln Indian Center as a volunteer and staff member and served on its board of directors. She was executive director of the center from 1981-82. She was a member of the private industry council, community human services planning council, strategic planning committee, Lincoln Action Program Board of Directors, Nebraska Job Training Council, Nebraska Commission for National and Community Service, National Advisory Council for Native American Employment and Training, co-chair of the National Indian Adult Education Association and president of the Nebraska Indian Education Association.
She was the daughter of Albert and Nellie Cooper BIGPOND, both deceased. Her survivors include her husband, Delius ROACH of the home; sons, Chuck ROACH of San Antonio, TX, Damon ROACH of Plainview, NE, and Kevin ROACH of Kearney, NE; a brother, Roy BIGPOND of Stilwell; sisters, Ruth OLNEY of Toppenish, WA; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

ALEXANDER
DALLAS - Glen “Fushutke” O. ALEXANDER was born December 27, 1919, in Bixby. he died June 13, 1995, in Denton, TX. No information was given on the place or date of the funeral.
His survivors were his wife of 53 years, Louise Myers ALEXANDER; his daughter, Nancy GRAFF; grandchildren, Terry MCGEE and Ronda GREEN; great granddaughter, Ashley GREEN; brother, Geronimo ALEXANDER; sister Dolly McHENRY; and several nieces and nephews.

HARJOCHEE
WELEETKA - Clint Dean HARJOCHEE was born March 17, 1944, in Okfuskee County. He died June 24, 1995, at his home in Wetumka. Rev. George DOYLE and Rev. John LOWE officiated funeral services on June 17 at Alabama Baptist Church, where he was a member and a deacon. The funeral was preceded June 26 by wake services at the church led by Eastman WHITLOW, with Marvin LOWE and Steve Randall serving as head deacons. Pallbearers were deacons of the church, Marvin LOWE, Steve RANDALL, Jeff FACTOR, Jerry SUMPKA, Anderson HALE, and Sidney LEE. No information was given on the place of interment.  
He was baptized at High Springs Baptist Church at an early age, but joined Alabama Baptist Church in May 1988 and was ordained a deacon on January 14, 1990. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.  
He was the son of Adam and Jennie White HARJOCHEE, both deceased. He was survived by his wife, Tilda Ann Scott HARJOCHEE, whom he married May 2, 1981; his five sons, Clint D. HARJOCHEE, Jr., of Okemah, Christopher HARJOCHEE of Oklahoma City, Anthony HARJOCHEE of Hollywood, FL, and Charles Broncho HARJOCHEE and Harbor HARJOCHEE, both of the home; his two daughters, Esterlene SANCHEZ of Oklahoma City, and Abbie Mae HARJOCHEE of the home; two brothers, Joe HARJOCHEE of Okemah, and Frank HARJOCHEE of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Lorene CARMONA of Longmont CO, and Julie SPAIN of Shawnee; nine grandchildren, Stacy Nicole HARJOCHEE, Kendra HARJOCHEE, Carl HARJOCHEE, Tyler HARJOCHEE, Breanna HARJOCHEE, Chastity HARJOCHEE, Felicia SANCHEZ, Manuel SANCHEZ, and Jonothon PHILLIPS.

LOGAN
FT. GIBSON - Alice A. LOGAN was born July 9, 1911, near Haskell. She died July 8, 1995, in Muskogee. Funeral services were held July 11 at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery with Father Max BERRY officiating.
She was a registered nurse and served during World War II in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant, returning to live and work in the Haskell area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Headright and Martha Ellen Reagan MOORE; and her husband, Amos D. LOGAN. She is survived by her son George LOGAN of Kinross, Michigan; her daughter, Violet Ellen CARRICK of Brimley, Michigan; one sister, Winnie HORNETT of Tahlequah; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

NORMAN
HOLDENVILLE - Alex NORMAN was born July 23, 1970 in Claremore. He died July 3, 1995. Funeral services were held July 8 at Middle Creek # 2 Baptist Church with Rev. George HARJOCHEE and Rev. Frank MOPPIN officiating. Pallbearers were Kevin FARBER, Jr., Billy WOOD, Buddy WOOD, Daniel JOHNSON, Wallace JOHNSON, Jim SHORT, Billy WILLIAMS, and Bill NECONISH. Honorary pallbearers were Mark MILLER, Beau MILLER, John WILLIAMS, Jace WILLIAMS, Kenny CHAMBERS, Brian CHAMBERS, Greg BAILEY, George BAILEY, and Bub BAILEY. Interment was in Holdenville Cemetery.
He graduated from high school in Holdenville in 1988 and attended two years at Haskell Junior College in Lawrence, KS. He was employed with Wrangler in Seminole.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee NORMAN, in 1980. SANTA BARBARA, CA - Curtis Gene PARNOSKY was born August 31, 1951, in Buckeye, AZ. He died July 9, 1995. No information was given on the date or place of funeral services or interment.

WILEY
SAPULPA - Mannie WILEY was born December 29, 1918, in Dustin. He died May 23, 1995. Funeral services were held May 26 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Special music for the service was provided by relatives. His niece, Grace SMITH of Edmond, played an original composition “Whisper on the Land”. She was accompanied by her daughter, Andrea SMITH. Interment was in Greenhills Memorial Gardens.
He attended boarding school at Euchee Mission and was an all-state guard and co-captain of the 1939 Sapulpa Chieftain football team. He served in World War II in New Guinea and Australia as a machine gunner in the 101st Airborne Rangers. He was a long time employee of Oklahoma Gas and Electric and retired in 1984 from the U.S. Postal Service.
He was the son of Adam and Melissa Kanard WILEY, both deceased. He is survived by his daughters, Karla FLEMING of Sapulpa, and Linda HAMMOND of Ada; brothers, Harmon WILEY of Miami, and Adam WILEY of Los Angeles; his grandchildren, Melissa FLEMING of Amarillo, TX, Kristin FLEMING of Stillwater, and Heather HAMMOND and Jason HAMMOND, both of Ada.

OKFUSKEE - Annie Coker BEAR was born December 3, 1903. She died August 4, 1995, at Creek Nation Community Hospital. Funeral services were held August 7 at Montezuma Baptist Church, where she was a member. Officiating the services were Rev. Earnest MARSHALL, assisted by Willis KNIGHT and Bunny SOWEKA. Pallbearers were he grandsons. Interment was in Montezuma Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Hettie Lena COKER; her husband, Lonnie BEAR, whom she married in 1924 in Okemah; three sons, Abert BEAR, Lucky BEAR, and Bob BEAR; and one daughter, Stella MUELLER. She was survived by three sons, Lon BEAR, Clifford BEAR, and Ashley BEAR, all of Okemah; one daughter, Pat NOON of Okemah; 34 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

She was the infant daughter of Mark and Marquita BIBLE of Tulsa, who survive. BRIAN
OKMULGEE - James Allen BRIAN was born January 25, 1914, at Ashley Corners. He died in July 1995. No day of death was given. Graveside services were held July 25 with a U.S. Navy chaplain officiating. No information was given on the place of the funeral. Interment was in the Okmulgee Cemetery.
He was a graduate of Okmulgee High School and Oklahoma State University at Stillwater, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a school teacher. He also spent many years in municipal government.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Maywood and Hettie Ashley BRIAN; two sisters; and one brother. He was survived by his wife, Shelley Anne BRIAN; his daughters, Dr. Dana BRIAN, and Jill HOLLEMAN, and her husband, Arthur Lee HOLLEMAN; his sons, Buck BRIAN and Dr. Michael BRIAN; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a niece and two nephews.

OKMULGEE - Braden Jackson CUSHER was born July 17, 1995, and died the same day. Graveside services were held August (?) 19, 1995, at Newtown United Methodist Church with Rev. David LONG, Jr., and Rev. John BUCKNER officiating.  
His survivors include his parents, Bobby and Jacque CUSHER of Okmulgee; one sister, Bailey Dawn CUSHER of the home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack BEVENUE of Okmulgee; paternal grandparents, Linda CUSHER of Okmulgee and Corneal CUSHER of Smithville; paternal great-grandmother, Flora CUSHER of Smithville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

GREEN
HENRYETTA - Charles Raymond “Sonny” GREEN was born April 9, 1941, at Hanna. He died August 8, 1995, in Tulsa. Funeral services were held August 11 at Shurden Chapel with Rev. Jack VANCE officiating. He was a radiographer and a member of the American Legion and the International Union of Operating Engineers.  
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie GREEN; an infant daughter, Connie GREEN; and an infant son, Scott GREEN. His survivors include his mother, Juanita Taber GREEN of Henryetta; his children Angela GREEN, Michael GREEN, Robert GREEN, and Steven GREEN, all of Tulsa; three sisters, Jeannette FEDEN of Norman, Paulette ROGERS of Henryetta, and Kay BERRYHILL of Broken Arrow; and five grandchildren.

JESSEE ROGERS, AR - Hattie S. JESSEE was born December 10, 1902, at Bixby, Indian Territory. She died August 3, 1995, at Tulsa. Memorial services were held August 19 at First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. At her request, her body was donated to Oklahoma Health Science Medical School.
She was an original allottee and a retired Tulsa County Courthouse employee, the Muscogee Nation Advisory Council recording secretary during the terms of appointed Principal Chief Dode MCINTOSH. She also edited the tribal newsletter during her eight years as secretary. She was a member of the Past Grand Ruth Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willoughby and Cordia SWINGLE; and her husband Garland JESSEE. She was survived by her daughters, Mary Louise ADAIR, Lalah Joann ADAIR, and Patricia GOETZ, all of Tulsa, Carolyn LAY of Rogers, AR, and Alice NEIGHBORS of Oklahoma City; her son, Jerry JESSEE of Oklahoma City; brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Ruby SWINGLE of Bixby; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

LEWIS
DUSTIN - Phyllis LEWIS was born February 5, 1963, in Claremore. She died August 23, 1995, in Baton Rouge, LA. Funeral services were held August 29 at the First Assembly of God Church with Brother Bill COVEY officiating. Interment was in the Lewis Family Cemetery.
She was a 1981 graduate of Dustin High School and a talented beadworker. She was an employee of Sunland Construction Company and had worked for Wrangler and Creek Turnpike McDonalds.  
She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul LEWIS, in 1989. She was survived by her parents, Flora LEWIS of Dustin, and Bunny LEWIS of Hanna; two sisters, Nancy HULSTINE of Wetumka, and Lisa LEWIS of the home; a special friend, Gus COX of Hanna; three brothers, Jonas LEWIS of Tucson, AZ, Randall LEWIS and Freddie LEWIS, both of Dustin; two nephews, Paul Eric LEWIS and T.J. PAWHUSKA - Clarence SMITH was born September 27, 1900, near Haskell in Indian Territory. He died in June, 1995. No death date or place was given. Graveside services were held June 27 at Pawhuska Cemetery with services officiated by Rev. James EDMISON and Masonic Burial Rites performed by Wah-Sha-She Lodge of Pawhuska.
He was an original allottee and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth SMITH; his parents, Daniel Boone and Mary Isabelle Berryhill SMITH; five brothers; and three sisters. He was survived by one sister, Ida Belle RAGAN of Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law, Argie SMITH of Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

TARPALECHEE
MORRIS - Henry “Hank” TARPALECHEE was born November 5, 1922, in Okmulgee County. He died June 21, 1995, at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held June 24 at Big Cussetah United Methodist Church, where he was a member and a lay minister. Rev. Jim ALEXANDER and George MILLER officiated the service. HENRYETTA - Polly HARLEY was born June 10, 1928, in Okemah. She died October 20, 1995, in an Oklahoma City hospital. A wake service was held October 23 followed by funeral services October 24 at Roberts Simons Funeral Home. Interment was at Sunnyland Cemetery.
She was a medical aide for United Cerebral Palsy. She was baptized at Trenton Baptist Church in Hanna.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy PANOSKE and Lisbee PIGEON; and by her husband, Dan HARLEY, on April 5, 1987. She was survived by her two sons, Billy HARLEY of Mustang, and Jay Dee HARLEY of Okmulgee; her daughter, Wilma HARLEY of Okmulgee; one brother, Toney HILL of Cromwell; four granddaughters; and seven grandsons.

MILLER
PORTER - Ocie Lee Couch MILLER was born May 11, 1907, in Vann’s Lake Community, Indian Territory. She died in October 1995. Funeral services were held October 16 at Newtown United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Rev. David LONG, Jr., officiated the service. No information was given on the place of interment.
She was educated in Vann’s Lake district, Bacone College, The University of Chicago, The University of Oregon, The University of California, and Northeastern State University. She was very active in the Newtown church since joining after her marriage. She worked in the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, served as OIMC treasurer for seven years, served seven years as executive secretary of the OIMC United Methodist Women, and taught Sunday school. She also taught at Vann’s Lake Comunity and in public and Indian schools for a total of 29 years. After her retirement from teacing, she became president and a member of Vann’s Lake Extension Club, and served on both Sequoyah Boarding School and Muscogee Nation committees.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amanda Herrington and John C. COUCH; her husband, Samuel Lee MILLER, whom she married in 1930 at Newtown; a brother, Roy COUCH; a sister, Gertie NEWBERRY; and a granson, Merle Lee CHASE. She was survived by her son, Samuel Doyle MILLER of Canton, Michigan; her daughter, Sandra CHASE of Cypress, CA; sister, Allie Belle CORWIN of Wagoner; brother, Johnnie COUCH of South Point, OH; grandchildren, Stephen, Joanna, and Gregory MILLER, all of Canton, Michigan, and Tina, Walton, and Sarah Whitebird CHASE, all of Cypress, CA; great grandchildren, Amy MILLER, Andrew Gleisten CHASE, and Kristin Hayes MILLER.

HANNA - Josie ROBERTS, Jr., was born February 3, 1942, in Hanna. He died October 20, 1995. A song service was held October 24 at Hanna Indian Community Center followed by funeral services at Hanna First Baptist Church, where he was a member. Officiating the service was Rev. Dusty McKEEFER, assisted by Rev. Doyle LOVELAND. Pallbearers were Ireland SMITH, Jr., Ray HARRINGTON, James Paul LAYMAN, James DAVIS, Mitch BARNETT, and Wilbur GOUGE. Honorary pallbearers were Jack SPEAR, Logan MOUSER, Tom PICKERING, Yahola TOWNSEND, Harold OSBORNE, Floyd OSBORNE, and Andy MARTIN. No information was given on the place of interment.
He was employed by McIntosh County District 3 driving service vehicles until retirement. He was a member of the Hanna Indian Community and Eufaula Indian Community.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sadie Lindsey ROBERTS; an uncle, Martin LINDSEY; and his grandmother, Ellis Narchubby LINDSEY. He was survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Jones ROBERTS, whom he married October 19, 1981 in Seminole; and a sister, Mildred PONOSKEY of Konawa.

NUYAKA - Christopher BARNETT was born April 1, 1980, in Tulsa. He died October 19, 1995, in Edmond. Wake services were held November 1 followed by funeral services November 2 at Nuyaka Baptist Church. Rev. Alex LOWE and Rev. Stanley ROBERTS officiated the funeral. Pallbearers were Barry LOWE, Vincent LOWE, David PASCALE, Mike PASCALE, Reuben FACTOR, and Tony “Bubba” JOHNSON. He attended Edmond High School where he played football and basketball. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Nora ROBERTS. He was the son of Freeman LOWE and Josephine GRIMES. FRANK
CONCHARTY - Rev. Newman FRANK, Sr., was born June 12, 1928, in Okmulgee County. He died October 27, 1995, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Funeral services were held October 31 at Concharty United Methodist Church, where he was a member and minister. Officiating the service were Rev. Harry LONG, and Newman FRANK, Jr. Pallbearers were Gary HUDGENS, Larry HUDGENS, Levi ON-THE-HILL, Austin FRANK, Louis MCGEELEY, Jeremiah WILSON, Sr., Jeffrey FRANK, and Timothy MCGEELEY. Interment was in Vernon Cemetery, Coweta.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 through 1952 during the Korean War. He had been a pastor for the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference since 1982. He was licensed to preach in 1967 as a local preacher and in 1972 he became an ordained deacon of the United Methodist Church. In addition to his duties as a minister, he retired from the Hale Halsell Company in 1994 after 42 years of service. In June 1995 he retired from being a pastor.
He was the son of Austin and Ida Pearl Tecumseh FRANK, both deceased. He was survived by his wife, Louvina Chalakee FRANK, whom he married January 17, 1953; his children, Newman FRANK and JoEllen BALLARD, both of Glenpool, Doris HARDGROVE of Coweta, and Ida Rochelle FRANK of the home; two sisters, Esther BRUNER and Remona HUDGENS, both of Okmulgee; six grandchildren; four nephews; three nieces; and other friends and relatives.

MARSHALL
BROKEN ARROW - Harriett MARSHALL was born June 24, 1908, in Coweta. She died October 27, 1995, at her home. Funeral services were held October 30 at Broken Arrow United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Rev. George MILLER and Rev. Roy BIGPOND officiated the service. Pallbearers were Charles McHENRY, Ronald McHENRY, Eli McHENRY, Joe McHENRY, Steve McHENRY, and Harry PERRYMAN. Interment was in Vernon Cemetery, Coweta.
She was a member of the United Methodist Women and held many offices in the church and UMW, both locally and at the district level. She was the last church mother and Rev. Newman Frank Sr., the late pastor of the Broken Arrow church, in her honor had designated May 28, 1995, as Harriet Marshall Day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnson and Susanna Carr MARTIN; her husband, Thomas MARSHALL; two brothers, March MARTIN and Joe MARTIN; and other infant siblings. She was survived by her daughter, Anna Mae GANDY of Tulsa; one brother-in-law, Freeman MARSHALL of Coweta; two grandchildren, Trenna Kay KAUT of Tulsa, and Dan Richard GANDY of Coweta; four great grandchildren , Erika KAUT, Stacy KAUT, Lora GANDY, and Ryan GANDY; three nephews, Carl D. MCQUEEN
SAND SPRINGS - Della McQUEEN was born March 30, 1915, in Hanna. She died in October 1995. No day of death was given. Wake services were held October 25 at Robert Simons Funeral Home followed by funeral services on October 26 at Wekiwa Baptist Church, where she was a member. Officiating the funeral was Pastor Newman Pete KELLY. Interment was in Memorial Park, Tulsa.
She was a retired employee of Tulsa Regional Medical Center laundry department. She was baptized at Weogufkee Baptist Church, but cofounded Wekiwa Baptist Church when she was a young girl. She became known as the mother of the church at Wekiwa.
She was the daughter of Willie MCQUEEN and Kogee SMITH, both deceased. She was survived by her daughter, Ada STEVENS; her son David MCQUEEN; two grandchildren, Garrett White Bear GIBBS and Jessica MUSSER; and nieces and nephews.

ROBERTS
OKMULGEE - Holman ROBERTS was born August 21, 1908, in Natura. He died October 29, 1995, at his home. Funeral services were held November 1 at Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence MATLOCK officiating. Pallbearers were Bob PINKSTON, Billy MELSON, Randy WHITE, Kenny HAMON, Bobby HAMON, Bob STEELEY, Walter WHITE, Murline FAIRCHILD, Gary ROBERTS, and Rendel WHITEHEAD. Interment was in Beggs Cemetery.  
He had been a lifetime resident of Okmulgee and worked at Bartlett-Collins Glass in the shipping-receiving department for twenty years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Annie Wright ROBERT; and his first wife, Emma Geneva ROBERTS. His survivors include his wife, Opal Cannon ROBERTS of Okmulgee; his son, Ralph ROBERTS of El Paso, TX; one sister, Lillie ENGLAND of Patterson , CA; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

WATASHE
SAPULPA - Minnie Francis WATASHE was born February 27, 1925, in Creek County. She died November 28, 1995, at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home. Wake services were held November 29 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel followed by funeral services November 30 at Little Cussetah Baptist Church, where she was a member. Officiating the funeral was Rev. Truett JOHN. Interment was in Cussetah church cemetery.
She had been a housekeeper at Northside Nursing Home. Her survivors include her husband, Lawrence WATASHE, of the home; her four sons, Michael WATASHE and Jerry WATASHE, both of the home, Richard WATASHE of Seminole, and Russell WATASHE of Okmulgee; her daughter, Vicki VANDENBERG of Kellyville; a sister, Stella BRIDGES of Tulsa; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
