Emma (Gibbs) Smith

Emma (Gibbs) Smith

Frank E. Smith was my Great Great Grandfather.  The exciting details of Frank Smith’s death made several local papers in Fremont, Ohio, his birth place.  I have a portrait photo of Frank Smith – circa 1884, Mount Union, Ohio.  I also recently came across a photo Frank’s wife Emma Gibbs.  Interesting Emma’s photo was taken by Thomas Croft – believed to be the first photographer to capture a tornado on film (appropriately in Oklahoma City in 1896) as well as Indian life in the Oklahoma Territory.  The photos came from a collection from my Great Grandmother Alta May (Snyder) Smith, who was married to Frank’s only son Louie Smith.
