Elgin's Churches
Elgin Assembly of God Church was started on March 11th, 1962 in a two story house at 6th and D. A lot was purchased at the corner of 3rd and K-Lowe from Nick Alderson. The church was built by the congregation. The women and children pulled nails and stacked the lumber donated to the church. Family members purched 100 concrete blocks for $17. The church was finished in 1963. Virgil Robert Heddlesten was the pastor at the time.
