Vinita—Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First
Baptist church for Craig Goodpaster, 48, former state
senator who was killed in an automobile accident near here
Tuesday night. Burckhalter funeral home has charge of
arrangements.
Goodpaster, a native of Vinita, was a graduate of Vinita
highschool and later served as mayor of Vinita. He was state
representative from 1940 to 1942 from Craig county and was
state senator for Mayes and Craig counties from 1942 to
1946. He operated a mercantile store in Vinita.
He was killed in a crash on U.S. 66 west of Vinita when his
car collided with a truck. The driver of the truck escaped
serious injury.
He is survived by his wife, Olive; two sons, Jimmy, of the
home; Charles, Spokane, Wash.; four daughters, Peachey, of
the home; Mrs. Marguarite Shelton, Stillwater; Mrs. Sally
Brandenberry, Winter Haven, Fla.; Mrs. Ola Belle Snedden,
Stillwater; his mother, Mrs. Belle Goodpaster, Vinita; two
brothers, Francis, Vinita; Herbert, Dallas.
