Funeral Held For Veteran, J.R. Griffith

   
    Vinita, May 14—Services for Joseph R. Griffith, 59, a long-time active member of the Vinita American Legion post who died suddenly Sunday in the home of a sister in Harrison, Ark., were Tuesday in the Burckhalter Memorial chapel here.
    Burial will be in the Edna, Kan., cemetery. Military rites at the graveside were conducted by the Vinita American Legion post.
    Griffith whose death was attributed to a heart ailment, had been visiting in Arkansas for a week.
    He was born in Logan county, Oklahoma, and came to Vinita from Bristow about 20 years ago. During World war II he was employed by the Dupont company in Chouteau and in Richland, Wash. He retired a few years ago.
    Survivors include: his wife, Ethel; one son, Harold Griffith, a student at Northeastern State college, Tahlequah; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Hughes and Miss Ellen Griffith, both of Harrison, and Mrs. Elsie Mulhall, Denver; one brother, Leslie, Oklahoma City; and a foster brother, Juan Spout, Duncan.
