Experience of a Territory Woman Who Wrote Mayor Low.
Vinita, I.T., April 19.—After a separation of 32 years, Mrs.
Minnie Hern of Pryor Creek has ascertained through Mayor
Seth Low of New York that her father, whom she had believed
dead, is alive and a resident of that city. Her father is
James B. Milligan, who was a colonel of a federal regiment
stationed at Fort Gibson at the close of the war. He was
married there and shortly after Mrs. Hern’s birth, was
ordered with his regiment to the east. He resigned from the
army on his arrival in New York, and, until the receipt of
Mayor Low’s letter, no trace of him could be found. Many
years ago a thorough search was made for him by his wife,
and upon receiving what was considered absolute proof of his
death, she remarried and has since died. The daughter, Mrs.
Hern, always doubted her father’s death, and, in response to
a recent inquiry, received the welcome intelligence that he
is residing at 201 East Thirteenth street, Borough of
Manhattan. Father and daughter will be reunited.
