VINITA, Nov. 9.—A district court jury Thursday night
convicted William C. Medlin, 24-year-old farmer, of
manslaughter and set his sentence at 15 years in the fatal
beating of Jess Hummel, 49 years old, September 3.
The state charged Hummel, employed on the Medlin farm near
Welch, was beaten to death with a club and a flatiron there.
Medlin’s wife, Lillian, 24, faces separate trial on a murder
charge.
Judge N.B. Johnson set sentencing of Medlin for Monday.
