Judge Davenport Buried at Vinita
During Snowstorm


    VINITA, Jan. 6.—Services for Judge James S. Davenport of the state criminal court of appeals were conducted Saturday in the First Presbyterian church with hundreds of the 75-year-old jurist’s homefolk enduring a snowstorm to attend.
    Rev. J.K. Story, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Fairview cemetery here. Judge Davenport was a former mayor of Vinita.
    Rites were held Friday in Oklahoma City, where he died Wednesday.
Members of the immediate family were guests here of W.T. Rye, city attorney and former law partner of Davenport, and Mrs. Rye. Vinita Bar association members were honorary bearers.
    Active bearers were Dr. F.M. Adams, superintendent of the Eastern Oklahoma State hospital here; H.R. Warner, Vinita; Paul O. Simms, Vinita, former assistant United States district attorney; Henry Vance, Tahlequah; Frank Bailey, Vinita postmaster; Francis Goodpaster, Vinita, former state representative; Page Grahan, Vinita, and Sam Cobb, Vinita.
