VINITA, Oct. 23—An eight-minute dash to a local hospital
here recently was still too slow for an expectant Vinita
mother. Her son was delivered in the back seat of a local
taxi standing in the hospital drive.
Bud Hamilton, the taxi driver, said he did his best to get
the mother, Mrs. E.D. Cannady, to the hospital in time.
“I even ran a traffic light. But I was too late.” he said
sadly. Arriving at the hospital, Hamilton ran inside to call
out the physician, who delivered the baby in the car.
