VINITA, Jan. 19.—Frank L. Haymes, 77, one time legislator
from Tulsa county and later Craig county attorney and judge,
died Thursday in a local hospital following a two-year
illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Luginbuel
Brothers funeral home chapel.
Haymes, admitted to the Missouri bar in 1895, practiced law
in Missouri until 1903 when he moved to Broken Arrow, Indian
Territory.
He was elected to the Oklahoma legislature from Tulsa county
in 1908. He served one term.
Haymes, who came here in 1916, was first elected to a Craig
county office in 1918 when he was named county judge. He
served three terms before returning in 1925 to move to his
farm near Vinita. He was elected Craig county attorney in
1934 and re-elected in 1936.
Although he did not run for re-election in 1938, Haymes has
since served as county attorney. He was defeated for
re-election in 1936. In 1947 he was appointed county judge
following the retirement of the late Sam Parks. At the
expiration of his term in 1948, he retired from politics.
Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home, one son,
Bland Haymes, Centralia; and three grandchildren.
