Three Are Killed On Wet Roads

STATE TRAFFIC DEATHS

 

    Slick roads, wet with the first rains since September, were blamed Sunday for two traffic accidents that took the lives of three persons. Dead are:
    WILBUR DALE BARNEY, 30, of Vinita.
    MRS. PATSY BARNEY, 28, his wife.
    MRS. WINSTON DALE BARNEY, no relation, 37, of Fort Scott, Kan.
    The Vinita Barneys died in a two-car crash on the east edge of Vinita. Injured critically in the accident was Betty Catherine Stephens, passed another car and lost control and suffered a brain concussion.
    The car, driven by Betty Stephens, passes another car and lost control after pulling back in. It skidded sideways 120 feet before striking another car driven by Charles Grayson Couch, 37, of Hockerville, Ottawa county.
    Four Daughters Hurt
    Couch suffered a broken right knee cap and cuts. His four daughters, Velma Louise, 16; Carole Sue, 14; Joyce Darlene, 9, and Coran, 3, suffered minor injuries.
    Another passenger in the Stevhens car, Zeke Bennett, 28, of Whiteoak, Craig county, suffered undetermined injuries.
