VINITA, June 25—John A. Wise, Vinita building contractor and
former banker, was found dead at his home here today. He was
79 years old. Wise apparently died in his sleep during the
night, friends said. He lived alone.
Wise, who came to Vinita from Illinois when a young man, was
a partner in the firm of Parker-Wise Investment Co. before
joining the now-defunct Farmer’s State bank where he served
as vice president. In recent years, he was in the general
contracting business.
Active in civic affairs until a few years ago, Wise was
instrumental in bringing the Hotel Vinita here.
He was a member of the Pilgrim Presbyterian church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Rosemary Harvey, Miami;
and one son, Orr Wise, Tulsa.
Arrangements will be announced by Luginbuel Brothers Funeral
home.
