Traffic Slaughter Continues
As Three More Die in State

A third fatality occurred Thursday night in eastern Oklahoma when a Craig county man was jarred from his pickup truck, then run over, three miles west of Vinita on U.S. 66.
The highway patrol listed the known dead as:
WILLIAM ATWINS RODMAN, 44, route 5, Vinita.
The patrol said Rodman and Howard Lay, also route 5, Vinita, were traveling east on U.S. 66 west of Vinita. Lay’s brother, Joe Lay, was driving a second pickup truck, accompanied by Tom Cooper, 65, Vinita.
The first truck stopped suddenly and the second one rammed it from the rear. Rodman was thrown out and run over by the second vehicle.
Troopers Tom Ballard and Bob Green said all three of the other men were being held in the Craig county jail while the investigation is being completed.
