VINITA—Services for Mrs. Fannie M. LeForce, 91-year-old
Vinita pioneer who died Sunday in a local hospital after a
long illness, will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pilgrim
Presbyterian church.
Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
Mrs. LeForce, born Nov. 5, 1862, at Park Hill, Cherokee
county, had resided here about 60 years.
She received her education at the Northfield, Mass.,
seminary, and returned to what was then Indian territory to
teach at the Cherokee Female Seminary in Park Hill.
Later, she taught at the Pleasant Hill rural school in Craig
county for several years.
Mrs. LeForce was a descendant of George Lowery, last
hereditary chief of the Cherokees. She was a charter member
of the Presbyterian church, Vinita.
Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. E.J. Willett,
Fairfax; Mrs. Arthur Ingraham, Pawhuska; and W.C. Presley,
Indian Head, Md.; and Charles LeForce, Pawhuska; seven
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
