VINITA, May 11—Services were Friday for Tom W. Ridgway, 73,
retired Vinita merchant, who died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday in a
local hospital after a long illness.
A long-time resident of Vinita, he was a member of the
Masonic lodge, Methodist church, and was a charter member of
the Vinita Rotary club, which he had served as president.
He was born in Pierce City, Mo., June 10, 1883, and came to
Vinita in 1900.
He had operated the Sills Manufacturing Co., in recent
years, until he became ill about two years ago. For 35
years, he was engaged in the operation of department stores
in Vinita and other cities of this area. He was a partner in
the Sanders-Ridgway store and also the Lennox store.
Besides his wife, Mary, he is survived by one son, T.W. jr.,
8812 N. May, Oklahoma City, and a daughter, Mrs. H.L.
Montgomery, Vinita; two brothers, Dewey Ridgway, Tulsa, and
Asa Ridgway, St. Louis, Mo., and a sister, Mrs. John Byrd,
Vinita.
