VINITA, June 18—Walter Bailey, widely-known road machinery
salesman and former member of the state legislature, was
stricken suddenly and died within an hour Monday in a
Sapulpa hospital.
Bailey, a native of Stigler, and a resident of Vinita since
1913, was 67 years old Monday. He had stopped in Sapulpa on
his way to Ardmore and points in Texas on a business trip.
Bailey traveled for several years in Oklahoma and Texas for
the Brown Shoe company and later served one year as Craig
county undersheriff. For the past several years he had been
employed by road machinery companies.
He served in the lower house of the legislature as Craig
county’s representative eight years during the terms of Kerr
and Turner.
Survivors include his wife, Stella, one son, William W.,
Vinita attorney, and one brother, Frank, Vinita Postmaster.
Burckhalter funeral home here will announce services.
