VINITA, Feb. 4—Services for Lee Barrett, 91, one of eastern
Oklahoma’s pioneer oilmen, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Burckhalter funeral chapel.
Barrett died Friday in the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Granville Weathers, in Grove. He had made his home in Grove
since 1949, after the death of his wife, Elizabeth.
He was born in Henrietta, Texas, July 4, 1865. His father
was widely known in this area for his activity in state
politics, Masonic and Odd Fellow lodges.
Forming a partnership with his brother, John, Barrett
entered the oil business in 1903 and participated in early
development of Nowata, Chelsea, Skiatook and Hakell fields.
He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic lodge,
Odd Fellow lodge and Indian consistory, McAlester.
Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Weathers, is another
daughter, Mrs. Alice Dyer, Los Angeles, and one grandson.
