State Traffic Deaths
ALMA SUTTON, 4 months, of Bluejacket
The Sutton infant died in a hospital three hours after her
father’s auto was involved in a head-on collision southwest
of Miami, highway trooper Tom Harris said.
Harris said an auto driven by Kenneth Sooter, 32, of Welch,
skidded as Sooter attempted to slow for a one-way bridge on
an Ottawa county road about 8 miles southwest of Miami.
The Sooter car crashed into an auto driven by Henry Leslie
Sutton, 40, of Bluejacket.
Sooter and his wife, 28, were treated and released, as was
Sutton.
Sooter’s mother, Mrs. Ella Mae Sooter, 59, of Bluejacket,
suffered head lacerations. Sutton’s wife, Ellen, 30,
suffered a chest injury. The baby died of a skull fracture.
