Desperadoes Break Jail At Sapulpa

Tulsa, I. T., Nov. 22 - Sapulpa came to the front with a jail break of importance today when Fred Spess held on a charge of highway robbery, and a negro named Ashdown, held on a charge of murder in connection with the recent riot on the Cliff Terry ranch near Stroud, dug their way through the walls of the city jail and escaped. A man named Huggniler, who was in the jail for disturbing the peace, was arrested by Deputy Strickland for breaking the lock on the steel cages, and aiding the two prisoners to escape... Another negro named McKernan was arrested by Deputy United States Marshal Hamm and Querry and is in the Tulsa jail...
