"WALKER T RUSSELL" <RUSSELLWT@prodigy.net>  8-98
Dr. Orange W. Starr was a fixture in Drumright.  He also had a brother named Blue Starr.  When Dr. Staff retired, he went to Spavinaw and served as a doctor to the Cherokee Indians in that area.  I went to Dr. Starr for medical treatment many times.

"Kathy Williams" <katwil@webzone.net> 8-98
If I'm not mistaken, the little museum at Drumright has an index card box
that has the Starr babies listed.  I remember years ago seeing a picture and
article about it in the paper.

Gingersnaps@prodigy.net
Dr. Starr  delivered me.  I have several old newspaper clippings about him and reunions for Starr babies, that he delivered.

I have at least 6 articles and pictures, of Dr. Orange Walter
Starr,  that I would be happy to make copies of for anyone who would
like them. They are reunions, his retirement and the story of his
life.

One of the newspaper pictures is of the first girl and boy he
delivered in Drumright.  They were Mrs. Glen McGeath of Dimit, Tx. the
former Laverene Matts.  The first Starr Brand boy, born in Drumright ,
was Ernie Hill  (December 20, 1915).

One of the articles says  Dr Starr delivered over 2,200 babies in
his 50 years as a Dr.  another says 3,200 but his retirement article
states he delivered a total of 3,242 Starr Brand Babies.  The most
children he delivered to one family was 8- to Leo and Dixie Jackson.
He had a Starr brand family having delivered all of them.  The family
was Orville and Billie Linduff and their children, Kay and Cheryl.
Linduff was postmaster at Drumright  (article from 1960).This article
is very large.

He began CHEROKEE Indian school in Claremore at age 5. They had to
have 12 students before they could start a school so they let him
attend even though he was underage.  He began his practice in
Drumright July 5, 1915.  The first baby boy to be delivered was Jack
McClain on July 26, 1915.  First girl was Laverne Matts.

They requested that all Starr Brand Babies come dressed as cowboys
or Indians.  I have a picture where I am dressed as a cowgirl for the
reunion. But, then again  out of 3, 242 babies there were probably
lots of us in costume. >GRIN<

Anyone interested in copies send me your address. Ginger
