We had a dream last night. We dreamed that we got steen hundred
letters and they all had a check for $1.00 in them from our dear
subscribers and some of them had checks for five and six dollars.
About that time our wife called us to get up and there was nothing
to it. It was too good to be true.

Marshall Bob Pilkington thot he was about to catch a fellow breaking
into a car of merchandise down on the Frisco tracks the other
night. He shoved his gun up against a fellow’s ribs and told him
to "stick ’em up." The fellow complied with his request
and Bob found two big gats on him and then the fellow showed him
a secret service star as big as a saucer and Bob had to give him
back his guns.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Cooper Thursday December 16th a boy
baby.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Cleveland Saturday December 18 a girl
baby.

Dean Fisher came in from Arlington, Texas where he has been taking
the government vocational training. He is looking fine and fit
and says he likes the work fine.

A. E. McCans, our depot agent has purchased the George Hicks property
and will move into it after adding another room.

John Hale has sold his big barn and residence just south of the
depot to Virgil Owens.

Joe Richardson this week sold his residence to Aunt Jane Arnett.
Joe says he will remove to the country. Joe has recently disposed
of his bird dog and is contemplating taking life easy from now
on.

Doug McFarland had the misfortune to drop a heavy iron on his
foot while working around the well in 31-19-8, and as a consequence
he is limping around.

"Daddy" Runkle is able to walk up town
now. He was been sick for some time.

Mr. Roberts and family are moving to Beggs soon and the young
folks of the community gathered there Friday evening for a surprise
party. Everyone had a good time. The Robert’s will be missed by
their many friends which wish them the very best of luck at their
new home.

Warren G. Harding is the first member of the Baptist church to
be elected president of the United States. Garfield was a member
of the Christian church. Eight other presidents were Episcopalians,
seven were Presbyterians, four were Unitarians.

Len Stanfield and Almer Jones, both old time residents of Depew
were in Depew Wednesday. They were looking for a location and
will probably decide that there is no place like Depew.

Down at Wellston they have a showing of oil at 900 feet according
to the Tulsa Daily World.

T. S. Gilreath has purchased the Chas. A. Stephens forty 3 miles
north of town.

Seth Barrett and daughter, Mable, left Wednesday for Guthrie to
spend Christmas with the family.

Joe Kinch and wife leave today for Longdale, Oklahoma where they
will spend Christmas with Mrs. Kinch’s parents.

Harrington Pettegrew’s Store will be closed all day Saturday.

M. C. Winfrey has had a garage built back of his residence.

Ray, Aden and Walt Utter left Wednesday morning for Enid where
they will visit H. L., another brother for a few days, and then
all of them will spend part of the holidays at Perkins with their
mother.

C. N. Lee, President of the Depew National Bank, was in Oklahoma
City Wednesday.
