Man killed at Bristow
Tuesday afternoon Marshal William Freshour shot one man, killing
him and wounded another.
In attempting to arrest one man, a friend remonstrated and after
the Marshal was down he began firing. The man who was slightly
wounded was rushed to the Sand Springs hospital where he is receiving
treatment.
The man killed lived near Drumright, where his father now resides,
and is said to have borne a good reputation, a brother being killed
on the battlefields of France.
It is a regretable affair, and sentiment favors the officer in
the matter. It is said the men were drinking at the time of the
shooting.

Carmen Jean Burton
Was born January 1th, 1916, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. I.
L. Burton; and departed this life Friday, October 29th, 1:00 p.m.
The death of this little flower, from God’s kingdom was a shock
to the entire community. She was sick but a few days and it was
not thought serious. She was conscious a few minutes before the
angel of death claimed her. Her mother was at Sapulpa, asking
the teacher’s examination when word was sired her that the baby
was not expected to live, and before an automobile could bring
her home the spark of life had flown.
Carmen Jean Burton was a bright little cherub, who had won the
love of all who knew her, and her taking away was a blow to the
community. Funeral was preached at the church by Rev. Broome.
Interment in Bristow cemetery.
Sympathy of the entire commnity goes out to the father and mother.
