Kenneth DeWitt Adams, 67, of Tulsa, died
Aug. 15, 2005.
He was born Aug. 17, 1937 in Sapulpa to Sally Lorene Stivers
Adams Dossey and Jack Selmer Adams.
He was a graduate of Sapulpa High School and Oklahoma A&M School
of Engineering. He served with the United States Air Force
during the Korean conflict. He was employed by Oklahoma Natural
Gas and Electric in Sapulpa twelve years before joining Public
Service Company of Oklahoma in Tulsa, where he retired as
Director of Safety after 28 years of service.
Ken was active in various electric utility organizations
throughout his years at PSO and was presently serving as a
volunteer trainer for the Community Emergency Response Team of
the Department of Homeland Security for Tulsa Public Schools.
He served as President of The Shadow Mountain Homeowners
Association. He had served as moderator, elder, deacon and
chaired many committees throughout his years of membership at
Bethany Christian Church in Tulsa.
Ken volunteered as a planner for the Sapulpa Historical Society
during their extensive renovation. He was currently serving as
chair of the 1950 class reunions for Sapulpa High School.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Wilson Adams; their children,
Amy Adams Moczygemba and her husband Michael, of Tulsa, and Rev.
Todd Andrew Adams and his wife Kimberly, of Houston, Texas.
Ken had four grandchildren: Chandler DeWitt and Christa LeAnn
Moczygemba, and Claire Elizabeth and Jackson McArthur Adams. He
is also survived by his sister, Betty Jane Baczewski, of
Harlingen, Texas, and was preceded in death by his sister, Sally
Lynn Adams.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Christian
Church Memorial Garden.
Funeral services for Kenneth have been set for 10 a.m. Thursday,
Aug. 18, 2005 in the Bethany Christian Church in Tulsa with the
Rev. Barney McLaughlin officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m.
in the South Heights
Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be Dana James, Warren Worth,
Judge Jerry L. Goodman, Tom Triplett, Delbert Bouse, Rex Acree,
Dave Crandall and Steve Bowers. Honorary bearers will be Homer
Robinson, Darrell Hensley, Jim Bearden and Richard McPhetters.
Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
