OK — The memorial service for Billie D. Alford, 84, will be 10
a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home
Chapel. Ray Rose will officiate. Cremation arrangements are by
Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
He was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Oilton to Earl D. and Rosie L.
Leonard Alford and died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in Enid.
He grew up in Oilton and graduated from Newkirk High School in
1943. He served in the Army during World War II from June 1943
to January 1946.
He married Wanda Noema Cathcart Sept. 21, 1946, in Blackwell.
They made their home in Newkirk and Kansas City. He attended
National Trade School in Kansas City, Mo., where he received his
master automotive technical diploma. They moved to Enid in 1948,
where he worked 38 years for the Pontiac-Cadillac dealership. He
was a member of Garriott Road Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Noema; his children, Gail Hayes of
Bennett, Colo., and Greg Alford of Katy, Texas; one sister,
Helen Nowell of Winfield, Kan.; four grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
