Jack Allen
HOISINGTON - Jack Allen, 78, died Dec 29 at his residence in rural Hoisington. He was born Sep 1, 1922, in Drumright, Okla., the son of Lee Bryant and Susie Wright Allen. He married Maxine Norland Feb 6, 1943, at McPherson. A resident of rural Hoisington, coming from Galva, McPherson and Great Bend, he was a supervisor with Mistletoe Express and retired production foreman for Allen Drilling.
Allen was a member of First Christian Church in Hoisington, Great Bend and Larned, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a motor machinist's mate second class on a destroyer escort in the Pacific and North Africa.
Survivors include his wife; one son, James Emery Allen of Pittsburg; one daughter, Janice L. Allen of Hoisington; one brother, Dillard R. Allen of West Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Artimas Lynn of Lexington, Ky., Brina Brown of Haysville and Susilea Hyson of Warren, Mich.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Simpson Allen and Earl Allen; and two sisters, Mable Thorn and Lucille Allen.
Funeral will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at First Christian Church in McPherson with the Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will be at New Gotland Cemetery in rural McPherson with military rites by Fort Riley honor guard. Friends may call from 11 am to 8 pm Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
