SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Former Sapulpan Mrs. Ruth Irelan Armstrong died Saturday in Scottsdale, Ariz.

No local service is planned and burial will be in Allenspark, Colo.

She was born Oct 23, 1910, in Sapulpa and was salutatorian of the Sapulpa High School graduating class of 1928. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1932 and earned a master’s degree in social work from the university of Chicago in 1935.

She married Cecil Armstrong in Sapulpa in 1934. The couple lived in Warsaw, Ind., until 1975. After retiring, they moved to their winter home in Carefree, Ariz. The couple also had a summer home in Allenspark, Colo.

Mrs. Armstrong was a member of the Nancy Green Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution. After moving to Warsaw, she was active in DAR and other community organizations. She also was a lifetime member of the Sapulpa Historical Society.

Survivors include husband Cecil; son Dr. Robert Armstrong of LosGatos, Calif.; daughter Dr. Elizabeth Rasmussen of Edmond; sister Ruth Knee of Alexandria, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
