Alton Jay "A.J." Atkins, 69, 323 Rogers Road, Sapulpa, died
Saturday in Sapulpa.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Tuesday, at Owen Funeral Home
Chapel.
Burial will follow at Green Hills
Memorial Gardens under the direction of Owen Funeral Home.
He was born March 11, 1923, in Vernon, Ala., to Ira and Lula Robertson
Atkins. Mr. Atkins retired from Liberty Glass Company where he worked as a glass
selector. He was married on Dec 15, 1956, to Patsy Long in Kellyville. She
preceded him in death in 1986. Mr. Atkins was a member of the South Heights
Baptist Church and had resided in Sapulpa since 1956, moving from Alabama.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Darrel Atkins and one daughter,
Melissa Atkins.
Survivors include his son, Ronald J. Atkins of Sapulpa; brothers, Robert J.
Atkins of Adamsville, Ala., and Milton Atkins of Vernon, Ala.; sisters, Jesse
Mae Brown of Vernon, Ala., Eddie Rhee Fowler of Michie, Tenn.; and Brazine Spann
of Vernon, Ala.; and four grandchildren.
Serving as casket bearers are Albert Health, Ronnie Petite, Bobby Powell,
Tommy Cockran, Phillip Valentine and Tommy Hood.
The family will headquarter at 323 Rogers Road.

today at Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Francis Boyer and Rev. Bill Riley
officiating.
Burial followed at Green Hills Memorial Gardens under the direction of Owen
Funeral Home.
Casket bearers were Albert Health, Ronnie Petite, Bobby Powell, Tommy Cockran,
Phillip Valentine and Tommy Hood.
Honorary bearers were Clarence Rush and Paul Haulbert.
Mr. Atkins, a longtime resident of Sapulpa, died Saturday in Sapulpa.
