Joe Edward Barnard, 73, of Fairfax died Tuesday at the Hillcrest Medical Center.

Services were to be held at 2 pm today at the First Christian Church in Fairfax with Rev. George Weston officiating.

Burial was to follow in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax.

Barnard was Nov 27, 1920 at Burbank to Dwight and Ola Moore Barnard. He graduated from Burbank High School where he was active in athletics. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a rancher and lived in the Burbank-Fairfax area all his life. He was married to Margie Franklin Butler on Sep 29, 1948 at Guthrie. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Freda Nolan and brother Fred Barnard.

He is survived by wife Margie of the home; sons Joe E. Barnard Jr. of Fairfax, and Vernon Butler of Pawhuska; daughters Jessie Joe Tunnell of Ada, Marlene Rodriguez of Sapulpa and Linda Butler Heskett of Tulsa; brother Jim Barnard of Burbank; sister Faye Hampton of Kirkland, N.M; and seven grandchildren.
