Charles Neal Barnes, 62, of Olathe, Kan., died Tuesday at the Crystal Park Care Center.

Services were held at 2 pm Thursday at the W. L. Frye & Son Funeral Home in Olathe.

Barnes was born July 25, 1931 in Bristow and lived in the Kansas City area since 1957. He was a sergeant for the Kansas City Missouri Police Department for 18 years retiring in 1977, and was a sergeant in the U. S. Army, a member of the V.F.W. No. 5789 in Lee Summit, Mo., the Kansas City Missouri Police Benefit Association, the Kansas City Missouri Retired Centurions Association, a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner at the Ararat Temple.

He is survived by son Michael C. Barnes of Kansas City, Mo.; step son Deiter Eschle of Hamburg, Mo.; daughter Ann M. Roundtree of Shawnee, Kan.; sister Peggy Deatom of Gardner, Kan.; mother Ann Dunlap of Olathe, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Hear of America Indian Center in Kansas City, Mo.
