Dan Beaty
Memorial services for Dr. Dan Beaty, age 64, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, at Laird-McGill Funeral Home in Nacogdoches, with Dr. F.E. Abernethy officiating.
Dr. Beaty died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at his residence.
Born April 25, 1937 in Sapulpa, he was the son of Oneida Vanderburg Beaty and Russell Beaty. He was professor emeritus of music at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Dr. Beaty was regents professor for research and created the SFASU Department of Music computer laboratory.
A composer and pianist, he played professionally in the United States, France, Holland, Canada and Indonesia.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Richards Beaty of Nacogdoches; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Sonja Beaty of Houston, Texas, Scott and Suzanne Beaty, also of Houston, Brent and Michelle Beaty of Oakland, Calif. and Eric and Catherine Beaty of Rennes, France; sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Norris of Okmulgee and Pam Beaty of Sapulpa. He also is survived by seven grandchildren.
Dr. Beaty was preceded in death by his parents.
