County man dead following stabbing

Mounds - A 24 year old area man is dead of stab wounds and a Mounds man is in custody at the Creek County Jail in an apparent homicide which occurred early Saturday morning at an impromptu party near here.

According to Creek County Sheriff's Deputy Trey Pritchard, Larry Bilby, 24, was dead on arrival after he was transported by friends from the stabbing scene to Bartlett Memorial Medical Center.

Deputy Larry Fugate said that Tim Spencer, 29, Mounds, came to the sheriff's office in the company of his attorney Saturday afternoon.

Officers contend it was Spencer who allegedly stabbed Bilby one time in the neck. Deputy Pritchard said that apparently the wound cut the juggler vein and Bilby bled to death.

The deputy said that details were still being investigated but it appeared that there had been "bad blood" between the two for some time and it finally erupted Saturday morning.

Sapulpa Police Department Patrolman Bret Henson was the first to alert deputies of the stabbing. He was at Bartlett when friends arrived with Bilby.

The stabbing scene was apparently near Mounds Lake on what is known as "Party Road."

Local law officers have been called to the area a number of times in the past on fights and loud music complaints.

According to sheriff's department records, Spencer was arrested last May on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm.

Records show that Spencer bonded out on $1,000 but disposition of the charges are not known. He is listed as a white male, 6 foot, 6 inches tall and weights 265 pounds.
