EMMA BISHOP

Emma Rea Bishop, 78, 813 N. Hodge, died today at her home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Houchin officiating.

Burial will follow at South Heights Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

She was born June 9, 1913, in Sapulpa, and lived here all her life. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1931 and married Clay Bishop in Sapulpa June 21, 1936.

Mrs. Bishop was a member of first Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Naomi Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. She served as a cook at the Baptist Children’s Home in Oklahoma city, Acacia Fraternity of Boulder, Colo., and Falls Creek Assembly.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962.

Survivors include son Earnest Bishop of Carrollton, Texas; daughters Barbara Tifft of Sapulpa, Betty Washburn of Heidesheim, Germany, and Virginia Ann Bishop of Hugo; brother George Waibel of Kerrville, Texas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Emma Rea Bishop will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church with Revs. David Houchin and T. Howard Allen officiating.

Burial will follow in South Heights Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be Don Cross, Gill Hatfield, Ken Rentz, Dr. Walter Cale, Bill Oldham, and Jim McReynolds.

Mrs. Bishop, a long-time Sapulpan, died Tuesday.

A children’s nursery will be provided during services at the church.
